I see a lot of references to GTA.

The truth is that although the media reports that violent behavior in children has been caused, partly, by video games such as the infamous Grand Theft Auto series, the Department of Justice, Bureau of Statistics has reported a decrease in violent behavior by children 12-25 since about 1993. Just to correlate:
-Grand Theft Auto was released in 1998.
-Grand Theft Auto III was released in 2001.

According to the DJBS, violent crimes have only increased in the 30-40 year old range and no real evidence, (outside of Geraldo and other "eager" journalists) has ever been linked to video games and violent real life behavior.

I think that the media likes to find the easy answer for child crime. They high-five each other if a gaming console is found anywhere near a young suspects residence. Gamers are considered drooling outcasts and are labeled "influenceable" by something as silly as a game.

What I believe is that video games don't encite violent behavior in kids..violent kids are attracted to video games.
Whatever hatred of themselves or mankind or WHATEVER beliefs the have was already well-established before they ever picked up a controller.

Its an easy excuse for society to blame video games rather than admit that they are not watching their children properly.

Crime rates have dropped signifigantly since the creation of the video game. It's likely because it alows people to get violent emotions out without killing any babies.

Doesn't anyone think this should get moved to the world politics section.Anyways I think video games relieve stress, and I play video games all the time, and you don't see me attacking people randomly.

I think all the blaim that video games get for kids committing violence is plain bull. if u have a weak enough mind to be influenced, then u shouldn't be playing video games. plus the people just use games as something to blaim to get out of trouble, or parants use to get their kids out of it.

If the kid is mature enough to distingush between The game and reality there is no problem...If they can't then thets a different story...

I think it's just the kids personaility. Some 7 year olds play GTA and there fine.

it took psychology and it is proven that violent video games may promote violent behavior but that is only a small fraction and the individual already must be violent so it overally shouldn't but technically is

I actually think video games discourage kids to commit crimes. Video games are a way to relieve stress and anger. It helps me out a lot when I can go shoot people without actually hurting anyone. If a kid loves violent video games and you took them away, wouldn't that make them more likely to commit crimes?
