I recently heard someone compare America to anicent Rome because we like them right before they perished have weakend boarders a decline in morals and a suffering economy. Thats what made me want to make this thread and see if people thought this was bs or truth
the final blow to Rome was the "barbarians" invading and winning. no offense to anyone, but America has a lot of less well of countries in the south(south America, Mexico) who i am sure would take advantage of a weak America, so yes, in that way America is like Rome before its fall.
No, the United States is one of the most important countries in the world; if it falls apart, most of the world will. Remember the Great Depression? Well I doubt that anyone here does, but my point is, the country went back to normal eventually, and I'm pretty sure that it will happen that way again.
In my opinion America is in danger of falling. We right now are a divided country. Most of the people take the hooray for me and screw you attitude. Also the government is not what it should be on both sides of the aisle.
Rome conquered most of the known world at the time, befor being reduced to Italy, so the never went back to normal. as for America being the most important country, is sure china could take it place if needed. a point i forgot to add is that Rome had conquered everyone, so not many people liked them, however there is more peace than then.
Actualy a lot of countries DONT like us...also when you say important like trade important because North Korea and Iran hate us and well they have some pretty bad weapons
Rome did conquer most of known land but wasn't the best of the best, after fighting and tasking much land, the Barbarians attack everywhere and soon only the Eastern part was left. But the population was 1 million, and the whole population was a whole bigger I expected. But we are talking about Thousands of years ago! Not much is known, some swords, nothing great
But our Army's in the United states have improved, if the United States ended, it would of ended a while ago from other wars, don't be afraid. Our Country is yet to survive.

I'd have to disagree because with todays technology we could have a massive nuclear attack before we realized what was happening and afterwords we would be so divided we might not have a chance to come back and also i was refering a lot to destruction from the inside
You will stay a country just be dominated by the current developing countries China, India, uhmmm... Somalia >.< just joking for somalia but the future seems to be pointing towards China coming on top although this remains to be seen a lot of things can happen in the following years
I think we are at a point in the world where everyone is always in everyone else's business. I don't think that a country such as America could really be invaded or attacked without any hope of repercussions from American and other countries military.
The only way I could really see America getting wiped off the map, is with nuclear weapons. Which granted, people have. So it's possible. But who is really going to attack America without nukes, and not directly after get their butts kicked by the rest of the world?
We have a higher level of accountability these days than back in Rome. It is easier to defend, point blame, communicate with other countries, etc.
Plus no one would attack with Nukes because we have them too. Currently the only strategy to basically defending our selves from Nukes, is to launch nukes back at the nation that just launched them. As soon as we spot nukes in the air, we will be launching ours back at them. Mutually assured destruction.
My point here is not being destroyed from the outside but from the inside people are getting more and more segregated on issuses such as the ones i stated mabey these factions would try to capture a part of America and force the rest to fight them or let then be
