I recently heard someone compare America to anicent Rome because we like them right before they perished have weakend boarders a decline in morals and a suffering economy. Thats what made me want to make this thread and see if people thought this was bs or truth
Well, fronm what I can see right now, the US is not in any situation like America was before the Civil War. Sectionalism was a problem mostly recognized by the Missouri Compromise which literally split the US. Right now, there is no slavery, and not a huge differance in one state than another. Exports and imports might be different like it was back then, but nothing that seriously seperates a state from the rest of the country.
The United States will most likely stay a country for a long time, but are we headed for an end? From present knowledge, the US isn't in any danger that would lead our country into destruction. Remember that America is one of the bigger power houses of the world. Some countries would have to come together if they really want America annhialated.
i would disagree with you completely i think thats degrading us back to the dark ages
The dark ages in this country was when religion was burning people people at the stake. The dark ages involved religion killing people. In America religious leaders no longer make the laws and can no longer kill people. Progress.

True but actually if California broke off it would be able to function as it ranks among the ten largest economies in the world. I think logistically it would be the only place in America that would have a chance to even function as its own entity.

Dark ages yes and also don't blame an entire religion for the acts of a few mistaken people but i still consider the things were doing now as horrible as that
America will not fall anytime in the near future. We have the most stable government, constitution, and people right now. Our constitution is the 2nd oldest in the world (behind San Marino). The government has held presidential elections every 4 years since the beginning of the US. The people of the US keep the system in place as well. There is nothing from the inside that will cause the fall of the US.
From the outside, no one would even dare invade us. It's illogical. The US has enough nuclear bombs to wipe out the Earth... 8 times. If any country's military stepped one foot in the borders of the US, that country would be gone in no more than an hour.
were going down. not any time soon i hope, because i want to enjoy the thrills of life. but there are many who wont be able to. there is way too much tension in america, and even the entire world. the economy is what is holding the world together right now. hopefully, the critics of barack obama will be silenced. i cant wait until that day comes. that might be our only chance to get out of this deep pit we are in.
yes america has similarities to romes downfall but maybe more like sodom and gommorrah, they introduced homosexuality like america and they got burned with fire and brimstone from heaven, and a,mericas not really talked about in revalations so i think its prob gonna burn
Brimstones from heaven whaaaa?
Anywho back to the nuclear strike if it did happen it wouldn't only be America that would get wiped but 99% of the countries so I really don't see the use for anyone to do that even if a madman/woman could get his/her hands on an a bomb that wouldn't be enough to wipe america.
people may disagree but i'd call it acceptance of abortion gay marriage so on
What do you think is so bad about homosexual marriages? I can understand how someone can be against abortion although I don't really agree but what is wrong with gay marriage?
Dark ages yes and also don't blame an entire religion for the acts of a few mistaken people but i still consider the things were doing now as horrible as that
I didn't blame an "entire" religion. I blamed religious leaders and it wasn't a few mistaken people. It was entire population following the bible and in other places the koran. And I don't see anything happening today in America that can be compered to burning innocent people at the stake or labeling our woman with giant letters because they strayed from their husbands.

I'm a christian and in the bible it's a sin so thats whats wrong...and really i dont care if they get married but i'd still call it a decline in morals
I blamed religious leaders and it wasn't a few mistaken people.
True but it was a few leading many who didn't know much about their own religion

Ah okay but that's just Christian moral (no offense) I meant what makes people think that gay marriages are bad is it because you think that it's not natural or not traditional again I'm not trying to insult you I just want to know why?
