I think that's a very trite question and response, OP. I don't think humans are born good or bad, they are simply born as little things which cannot take care of themselves. Have you ever seen an evil newborn? No, because if a newborn has no internal dialogue, no external motivation or interests, how can it be bad (assuming by "bad" you mean acting maliciously with intent). Newborns have no intent, therefore they aren't "bad".
Secondly, it's true that children are selfish, or at the very least, self-motivated. They want what is best for themselves, and don't care too much about the rest of the world around them. This is where parents, teachers and society come in: to teach the child that there are other people out there who have feelings and interests as well, and (as per the Social Contract) if you don't hinder them, they won't hinder you. If a child makes a mistake and takes gum from a market without paying for it, is that child bad? Not necessarily, because they just wanted the gum (it's up to the parent to let them know that you have to pay first). Aristotle says that these experiences help build character, and that people are allowed to make mistakes as part of a learning process.
Finally, if you truly do think that all humans are born inherently bad, why are you so against abortion?
I think humans are naturally aggressive. Kids such as myself and my friends prefer games that contain violence to other games though we do not think of ourselves as violent people.
Alos humans can be greedy though some of us try not to be if some one handed you a load of money you'd take it wouldn't you? Id say humans are bad in general
When a baby is born do they not cry? Do they not say 'This is mine!' Do they not fight? Do they not yell and scream when they do get what they want or the food they want?
I think its neither. Its the time that you grow up that makes you good or bad, as a bad childhood can make you a criminal and a good one can't(most likely)
i think bad, but we all have good intentions. Like the terrorists for ex. Im not siding with them, but while they arecrazy to us, on their side they think they have good intentions
It depends what you believe. John Locke says that Human Beings are born as blank slates, and become good or evil through their experiences. However, Jean-Jacques Rousseau says that Humans are evil/good from birth. He says that no matter the situation, the person will be destined to be one way or the other.
Most people consider a possible combination of the two ideas, and some pick one or the other.
i agree with Summon Fiend but i also think that all about how u are treated as a child and sometimes u just have someone convince u into thinking that some people are good and some are but in the whole run i think sometimes are made to be Good or Evil.
Humans are the greedy-side of life. Not all are like this, but many are. It is because of their heightened intelligence that makes one curious, and it is their curiosity that makes them invent technology. Technology that destroys the land around us. If anything happens to the world around us, and that means getting rid of the new technology, most of us don't give a hoot about it. Some leaders protest about changing parts of these technological advances, but it requires all of us to help make the change happen. Like I said, most of us don't even care what happens outside our homes. If it means to destroy land to further our advancements, then most of us will say "Fire it up!".
We are constantly fighting amongst ourselves, over petty conflicts and differences. This will never change, unless we take out part of our DNA that promotes this behavior. No matter what the situation is, as long as there are two parties to one subject, we will fight over the matter.
Animals kill because they are hungry and we need to survive. Humans? We kill because we are greedy -- to obtain things that we deem wanted. Land, other humans, food, technology, something that someone else has that you don't have and want it.
Conclusion: Humans are naturally evil, not to themselves, but to the environment around them, and if another issues a conflict. Most of us are neutral, but only because we are Scavengers, obtaining food, necessities, and wanted items, not by killing or obtaining, but by buying through currency. There are those that are on the good side, who strife to improve the environment, but unless there are more people like that one person who wants to promote their cause, and if others deem it necessary, that cause will never happen.
It depends on religion. Some religions say people are naturally bad because being born can be an original sin. HOWEVER, if you are asking if our personality is good or bad, it depends on how you were raised.
