Meta Knight. He is ranked no. 1 on the tier list due to insane combos, very few bad matchups and his speed. He can also glide twice and recover unpredictably.
Snake. It's showtime~ He is ranked no 2 on the tier due to powerful fast tilts, his projectile game (especially grenades), his smashes and his glitch attacks. He has an extremely long recovery (when done right), and is heavyweight so he won't be knocked far.
Falco! Hands off my bread~ He is ranked no 3 on the tier list due to a chaingrab, even a chaingrab to spike, boost smashes, laser locking, camping abilities and good matchups with both Metabutt and Snake. His recovery has also improved greatly from Melee.

And FYI every who thought Sonic was one of the best characters; He's no 31 out of 37 :P. And Samus was 30, so don't get cocky.
well if anyone else has the guide book, the best character stat wise is king dedede but i think that it's based on skill and personal prefence. i personally prefer slower but more powerfull characters. for me, the best is either ike or luigi if im in the mood.
I really like pit because of the dynamics of his attacks: his normal (2) attacks are fast and effective, his angle ring move can hit a pack of people in a 1v1v1v1 is effective, being able to glide down and attack is very effective for kills on high up maps, his smash attack to the side (non charged) does 20+ if you hit with both halves of the bow, and the arrows are a great way for keeping people at bay. Another amazing thing, his shield, it can bounce back moves for a great advantage, and if ur playing with hotheads, it bounces them back and makes them stronger (and on ur side)
