I love punk! Punk is not just a music genre, it's a lifestyle. My favorite bands is: The White Stripes, The Hives, The Strokes, The Kills, The Ramones and Oasis (Not all of them are punk... some of them are more Indie rock and things like that, but they still kick ass) I Really love punk and would not be alive if there was no punk.
Love punk. My fav. Is DK and bad brains. I will say that punk is dead. and im getting sick of these stupid kids thinking that punk isnt dead and trying to bring it back the punk movement is over and it will never come back.
I prefer the more "classic" punk bands like the Sex Pistols and The CLash and The Stranglers to the err... newer punk bands. The older bands have so much energy and hate. As opposed to idiots like Donny Tourette who are just pathetic posers.

That is probably the funniest thing i hav ever heard. Rise against is NOT PUNK.NOT PUNKISH. Its rock people. Its rock because punk involes 3-5 chords E, G, A, C, D. Now Rise against uses many minor chords and minor progressions.
You probably have no clue what im talking about. But im just trying too say that Musicaly wise Rise against is not a punk band. Also lyrically, they arnt a punk band at all.

American punk movement and England punk movement happened at the same time there's no classic punk there's just punk. Im not trying to make you look stupid im just sayin all happened at the same time.
No if you were going to talk about the newer punk bands then the last "real" punk came out around 84-86. Anything after that isnt real punk its just want to be shit . lol oppsy i said a bad word.
I meant that I preffered the bands fro the original movement than newer "unk" bands like Rise Against or Towers of London. Therefore classic punk would encompass both the American and British movements, classic is all abot time. Though I agree that these modern bands aren't punk int he same vein as the sex pistols or the clash. Rise Against is classed as "Melodic Hardcore" which is a subgenre of "Hardcore Punk" which evidently is a subgenre of "PUNK".

Yes I know what your talking about by chord progressions and all that. But people still classify Rise Against as punk because they frequently comment on social and political issues (Which punk music tends to do). Also punk lyrics sound Nasalish. And punk is also a fast paced music, which Rise Against does. And if you look them up online it evens says they're a Punk/Hardcore/rock band.

just because they sing about politics dosen't make them punk. You don't know what punk is. Just cause they play fast dosent mean there punk either and because todays society classes them as punk dosent make them punk.
