Since it seems to be a increasing problem, here is a little set of general guidelines.

When finding a thread made by a suspected or obvious troll, do not reply.
Ignore it.

-Do not try to reply with a witty comment, it gives the thread more replies than it deserves, and often leads to the thread simply being locked instead of deleted as it should.
-Do not reply with "You are a troll", "This is fail.", "You are an idiot", "This is so locked", "/Thread" or similar. Do not reply with images of facepalms or FAILs either.
Again, it is unnecessary replies to a doomed thread, and it gives the troll a reason to reply/continue trolling.

The 'do's:
- Report it to a mod.(*)
- Wait.

(*): This needs to be done only once, and if you see someone else reporting it on a moderator or admin's profile, you do not need to report it again, unless you notice another mod come online.

Generally ignoring the thread is often the best plan, as the troll does not get any responses and the thread dies naturally. This might lead to discouraging the troll as well, so the trolling will not happen once again. It might also cause a spamming troll, which is also a thing to ignore.
If the troll is persistant, it will help the mods if the users simply leave the section quiet for a while, so that the troll/spam threads are easier to locate.
Another reason to leave would be the decreased temptation to make a witty remark on the thread when you can't see it.

-

All this counts whether there is a mod online or not. If there are none online you should report and ignore, if there are any online, report and ignore.

This is actually working. When Wannabee made pointless threads, people replied, but that guy from like 3 days ago goldenpetal, his threads got 0 posts.

The SNAP troll thread is still being replied to.
More people should read stickies, and this should be in the newbie section as well.

Yeah it should. Or you should be required to read all the stickies before posting in that thread. Wait then you could just click it and go back

I think.... troll will still exists, they big and green.... Give Zophia the troll spray.

This thread will be flocked by trollers and anti-trollers, we learn not to troll or spam in this great AG site.

I agree with Zophia in her first page, wait and report it to a mod, but I think the real target of this thread is to increase our awareness about troll and how to 'handle it with care'.

Trolls are everywhere, it because Gilgamesh didn't kill them all.

Hrm... I usually don't care about trolls. Seriously. But maybe we should look into IP bans?

I've been told we can't have them for legal reasons or something (which is bull), but... I dunno. Sounds like a good idea to me.

This thread has helped a little, but not quite enough.

People who spam, flame, lie, anger people, you pretty much get my point.

Legal reasons? That is the most bull I've ever heard!!!! They really should be implemented. I mean seriously, the had there chance, and got IP banned in the process.

IP bans?
That 420 guy has made about 10 accounts.
I think we take these things too lightly.

I saw his own estimate closer to 500. I myself have seen about 30 or so.

There should be a guide on how to deal with super trolls.

Who cares. It's not like he's hurting anyone!

Once he starts causing a problem again, report it to one of the mods, or Carlie, and they will most likely deal with it, if they're not too busy.

Do not provoke them! Don't reply either if they post a stupid response. The point of the thread is to tell people to ignore them!

IP bans?

Lulz, AG doesn't have those already?
That 420 guy has made about 10 accounts.

Not that it matters or even relates to anything, but some users who don't troll have 3, 5, 10, or so accounts for personal, misc. purposes......
I think we take these things too lightly.

*cough*More bark, less bite.*cough* O_O

Blown out of proportion much???

I just noticed this thread, really, I have never paid attention to it until now. I find it....funny.
