So, since my last competition was pretty much a discussion, I'll now close that and move over to this general colony discussion (the others are all specific)
TALK ABOUT ANYTHING RELATED TO COLONY (and beef burgers)
Most ppl think that there is two main strats: Rush and boom. I used to be a big boom fan, until I discovered Harass. Use communist, and make snipers. Attack whenever he makes a troop, so you get money and influence. Build a War Sanctum and build Sphinxes. Make sure your teammate is building up forces, so after your small attack, they come in to clean up. You can do this by yourself with the mentioned sphinxes, but it's better to have a teammate.
Counter: Turtle You build forces early on so you won't be rushed. Harass is focousing on killing the easy targets, the single hover tank. Not the 2 Reg. Tanks, 10 Marines, and 20 meditecs. This strats weakness is a giant army.
You made me lol, AK. Thats called microing snipers: the sniper rush, and please tell us more about the build.
I wished far snipers would cost only 20 influence, but with the same range, only less damage. To have only 2 far snipers is simply not enough, although they deal excellent damage. You need to be able to micro them. =)
Im feeling better in Colony from hour to hour. Just now i won 3-0 against Darky, all games EXTREMELY scantily, but at the end of all 3 matches i took the overhand
And i learned something new =P That commy and fasc much better choices are than i thought, im myself only playing capi...
I wait until colony 7 / 6.2, however, this bugs are so suckish, and even do more suck iz monarchy with this crazy build, im working on a counter to it, but its hopeless.
Forge first is a lol strategy. Spec Ops first is countered by a Post->Rax build (scouting missiles is rather easy to do).
If you see a Forge first, you're free to grab a Hospital, then just spam Marines to crush whatever they send while they save up for a Spec Ops. By the time they have that down, you should have a Rax, Hospital, and a handful of Snipers (constantly sending Marines on Charge to scout missiles).
If you see a Spec Ops first (you can easily tell the difference between Forge first and Spec Ops first), get a Rax before Hospital, and scout the missiles while you build up snipers. A Hospital is next.
With either build, you'll have built up quite a bit of Influence just through the natural course of the early-game. It's basically either a bunch of Medics, or a quick tech to War Sanctum for an early Saint (Spec Ops + Forge can barely afford to tech up to Manufactory AND get an Armory within a reasonable amount of time)
Are you kidding me hank... romans beat snipers and marines. and if you stream the romans you pretty much push back sniper + marine combo. Worst case scenario is post right off the bat makes 4 chrons pinning you at your base (remember their post and your forge will come up at the same time)then your romans and influ units are usless, you than have 2 options eitehr just missle clear the tanks and win with spec forces or go mod skatz + roman spam to kill off snipers and chrons, as long as you have enough romans you dont need to worry about saints.
Sure, in a Roman v Marine matchup, the Roman would win. But given that you can have a Hospital up to have infinite Marines pouring out, you'll power through those Romans easily.
