I have been using Armor Games for almost two years now, and I'm pretty sure a new feature about related games (something like the related videos feature) or recommended-for-you games would be nice. Any ideas?
Well, it would need lots of time and sweat to do so but I think it will be worth it. Help from gamers should be considered too. For example, there could be a feature that allows you to relate a game you played in the past with another one (since even tags sometimes are misleading), and maybe even asks you to explain the reason why you think it's related. That just for starters
Then why not simply place tags underneath the current game you're playing, so you can easily click on one of them that either sounds good, or is similar to the one you're playing at that time?
Yes, it would be nice, and useful, only thing I can imagine is:
Who'd code it? We're thinking about a program that will sift through 1000 games and pick games of the same genre. Unless it were hand made for every game, which could take some time in the beginning to do it to the current games.
I believe Kong has this, but it isn't that accurate.
Actually, that sort of sounds like the game categories...
We could also get help from users for this:
Users can make lists of games that are similar to one another and some people will all like. A thread could be made in the SS for these lists, and good ones will be used by the admins.
ANother problem arises: We have to get the admins on our side...
An excellent idea. The categoriasiation you suggest will have to be slightly more precise than the existing game categories, and may require hand-picking, which, as pointed out by ulimitedpower, can be done by eager gamers like us.
Putting AG's games in the categories may also improve AG's recognition, similar to the AG logo and armorgames link.
I think the idea 'stands or falls' with the correct use of the tags... and then the programming won't be all that difficult I guess... :S
I'm not a programmer, so I'm going to suggest this only, but if only a new line of programming added to the page loaded is needed, there should be no problem...
The problem occuring with the users helping out here, is the one where one person says that 'The Last Stand 2' (as an example) is a shooting game and another user says it's an adventure game... so where to put it then? o_0
Heyhey! See.. there I actually learned something today! =D
But I think it's in the game developer's own best interest to make good tags on the game in order for the gamers to find his/her game... so that shouldn't be a problem there! =)
And administrators probably have more 'owers' then us normal users think they have... beware! =P
Game developers add tags to their games, but only admins can put them in the large box on the main page. That box is left for commonly used tags.
That means they were also added into the game...right? o.o

Yes, I think most developers use reasonable tags for their games. But developer's a people too, they like fooling around and making mistakes
Tags are not standardized as they are added by the game developers.
So we'd have to make a function that allows users to tag a game... But that would probably be abused somehow... Darn...

Like I said, make threads on them in the Tavern or SS (Probably not) or maybe Walkthroughs (Does it fit in?).

Which is why I recommend only using the good tags/lists.

True...
