It would be most interesting to have a CoD set in Vietnam. Some people could play as Vietnamese people in the jungles and ambush the American soldiers. That's a game I would play!
WWI wouldn't be as fun to make into a CoD game, unfortunately.
CoD WWI would not be very fun. It would be mostly trench warfare, which is very repetitive and doesn't involve doing very much if you're playing it in a video game.
World War 1 does have potential though it would be a difficult game to make. The difficulty factor would need some tweaking as you'd have to give the player a chance during a charge.
Also, showing the horrors of World War 1 would be quite difficult for a video game, though with modern technology we could get the sights and sounds down to a degree. If they followed certain characters or something they could show some stuff during cut scenes though those would be very graphic and disturbing so the rating would be high.
Trench warfare is something that hasn't been touched on too much, but there is potential there. There could be mission parts where you have to take out an enemy soldier by looking out over no man's land, sniping him, and quickly getting back down. Mission parts where you had to man machine guns, survive a charge and then clear an enemy trench. Clearing enemy trenches would probably be one of the more popular missions. I can just see a mission where you'd have to strap on a gas mask quickly as your position got gassed, man a machine gun to counter an enemy charge, charge across no man's land taking cover wherever possible and then storming an enemy trench.
World War 1 wasn't all trench warfare either. The fighter plane first appeared in that war so there could be pilot missions. The tank also first came out though they wouldn't be much fun, maybe escorting the tanks or something. There was also some urban fighting and other non trench fighting, though trenches are where most of the fighting did occur.
I'd like to see Call of Duty Vietnam, a lot of material there for them. Korea could also be interesting, you don't hear too much about the Korean war. Also, who says the war has to be a modern one? I don't know exactly how it would work but what about Alexander the Great's campaigns, Genghis Khan's or even the Crusades. I can almost see Saracin zombies as an unlockable extra.

That would be awesme if they made one of them but wouldn't be COD at all it would be way to diffrent and hard for an online game in first person running around with swords and all that other stuff.
A Call of Duty; The First Crusade probably wouldn't be all that focused on online gameplay as much as the campaign aspect of the game, which if done correctly would be quite entertaining and, difficult. They would have to at least once have a group of twenty or so knights charge into a hundred Saracins that look like a massive cresent shape. The First Crusade would have a fair bit of material for a campaign level though, maybe a side quest or two to get used to the game, you know, defend a village from raiders or something then you have to fight your way through to Jerusalem. If pulled off correctly they would be good games and people might actually learn something about one of the more interesting parts of history.
OK, the new COD will be called Call of Duty: Black Ops and will include missions in terrains like the jungles of Vietnam, Cuba, and the Artic wastelands. Should include multiplayer, co-op (which may or may not include wave defence similar to Nazi Zombies) and will also have a single player campaign mode. It will be released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on the 9th of November 2010.

Makes me think of that FPS where you play with things like laser machine guns and jump around asteroids with 0 gravity. It looked fun but I never got to play it - forgotten it's name too.
