My normal Forum posts stays here, then there is a big line...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

My signature is here, and I don't have to type it on every post, because I type it only once in my profile and then anyone can read it on my every forum post.

Jeez...thanks!

What's even worse than image sigs.... is text sigs!!!

No I have to disagree with that.

I'm going to have to agree with Carly here I used to be mad that AG didn't have signatures but the more I see of them the more I'm glad we don't have to deal with them. If we end up getting them with 3.0 I hope they can't be any longer than one line and have a maximum of fifty characters. Preferably they would have to be text only as well.

HI SPAM POST

----------------------------------

CLICK MY DRAGON EGGS
LEVEL UP MY BRAWL CARD
GIVE INTERNETS
STEAL SOUL

I GIV YU COOKI IF U CLIK THOSE LINKZ!!!1!1!!2!

/example

Now all those links could fit on one line with the dragon eggs and give internets pictures fitting in too. There would need to be restrictions on advertising.

And characters and image size.

That's what I said, character restrictions. 50-100 would be good. Image dimensions, file size and BB Code would also have to be restricted.

I agree, or you could put your Bio in your sig

Personally, I think signatures tend to be pretty obnoxious... that is what profiles are for. To post your personal information and all the little tidbits of knowledge about yourself that the world is just dying to know. I think it would just take up extra room on the page and extra space on the servers. I think the forums looks much cleaner without that sort of stuff going on.

Emphasis on 'Clean'. I find that signatures aren't very useful, people normally just write some junk on them.

You mean automatically put random things on every one of your posts, that do not contribute to the discussion. No thank you.

If this idea were to ever get through, then I agree with that statement: I don't want to see some user's 'bio of my whole life'.

But it won't, because Carlie doesn't like it very much (With good reasons), and as this is her field of expertise, she decides (Unless Daniel returns from the dead and trumps her. Keep wishing, kids).

Think of it this way: How would signatures help the forums?

They wouldn`t perform or promote any information that peopole could find by clicking your name and visting you profile.

Dan runs the site, and if Dan says no then it is no. Carlie's preference isn't necessarily Dan's. It might be, but we almost never hear from him so Carlie's probably the only one who knows.

I do find signatures useful and informative, sometimes.

If signatures are put in they should be optional, of course.

Lol, Dan owns the site. So he doesn't need to trump her. Wishing? Like I said before, Dan owns the site.

I just don't see how forum sigs make a forum a forum?! 0_o

It means a lot of extra work for the AG administration to check them all for any offensive text used... plus, if you implement it, it would create a lot more filling to the thread page you're on and therfor make it more of a mess!

To give an example of what this page could look like:
_______________________________________________________________

User1: I think it's a bad idea to do that.
==========================================
I love games!!! ARMOR GAMES RULES!!!!

User2: Why would you say that? I think it's great! =)
==========================================
If...
you...
read...
this...
signature...
you've...
wasted...
at...
least...
two...
seconds...
LOL...

User1: Well, that's your opinion, I think it's bad...
==========================================
I love games!!! ARMOR GAMES RULES!!!!

User3: I like Sonny, Sonny RULES!!!
==========================================
I like Sonny, Sonny RULES!!!

User1: @user3, stay on topic man! You're in the wrong section!
==========================================
I love games!!! ARMOR GAMES RULES!!!!

User2: @user3, he's right, go to the other forum!
==========================================
If...
you...
read...
this...
signature...
you've...
wasted...
at...
least...
two...
seconds...
LOL...

User3: Sorry... =P
==========================================
I like Sonny, Sonny RULES!!!

_______________________________________________________________

And that's only by using simple non-offensive sigs... imagine what will happen if a user's name was used to offend him or pictures would be posted in a sig? Not a good idea at all...

Leave it the way it is, it's nice an clean with a good view on what's actually posted in the thread!

I doesn't but it's a nice additional feature that is implemented on many forums. It certainly is not necessary but there is very little harm in having signatures.

It means a lot of extra work for the AG administration to check them all for any offensive text used...

That's a silly thing to say. AG already do check for offensive/vulgar material and moderators can be alerted by flagging the post. Moderating signatures would be as easy as moderating the post itself - AG barely have to do anything, the community just has to recognise the situation and report it.

I also think that the majority of people in this community are mature enough to keep their signature from showing anything that violates the rules.

plus, if you implement it, it would create a lot more filling to the thread page you're on and therfor make it more of a mess!

There would hardly be a difference. Most picture/animated signatures are restricted to a certain height, normally something in the range of 200 - 300 pixels high. In any forum where picture/animated signature are unsupported, text signatures are restricted to 3 - 5 lines high. Most people abide to these rules in all forums I've seen. If they don't, as aforementioned, we have a report function. It would mean that the moderators would have a slight increase in the amount of work they have to do, but I would trust the AG community to not violate the rules and guidelines.

I do agree with the people who don't want signatures implemented - they don't really serve much purpose but like Knight says, lacking a very mainstream and popular feature like signatures does make the forum look a bit undeveloped. :-/

Yes, I agree with you too. I too, have not seen much problem on other forums. Since this place has more vigilant members and better security than other places I've seen, signatures shouldn't be a problem.

That would be good to follow, however a character limit is better.

@MrDayCee

Signature example two wouldn't be possible. Most forums don't allow for such amount of lines.

I agree with Elitemagical. If other forums aren't as patrolled as ours and don't get effed up by sigs, we shouldn't have a problem.
