Loving this game so far, it's great fun and fairly simple in the Single Player.
Except for one part. I need to kill a giant worm at the end. And I keep dying and resetting his health. So far it's day 17 and I'm still doing very badly. I tried upgrading to a rocket launcher, but apparently they don't damage him...not sure why, but there we are, so I had to recycle that and go way lower in the weapons table, upgraded my armour which helped but not a huge amount, so I'm wondering: any of you guys got some good hints/tips for beating this guy? Fancy posting a vid on the 'Tube? Because I'm stuck, and I'd love some help so I can finsih the game and see what happens at the end.

The strategy I tried (which worked quite nicely) was basically to pop out of the base, fire as much as I could, pop back in just before he fires, and pop back out as soon as it's safe. If you have a good repair system on the base, and at least the basic surgical stuff, you can do that pretty much indefinitely (the only limit is food, and by that point you probably have more rations than you know what to do with anyhow).

Hauthorn's strategy works well, except when creatures surround your base entirely and cannot be dealt with in time by the turret.

I finally won on Day 22, by running around the field finding resources, staying far away from the worm and shooting it when it came up close.

I nearly got killed on day 6...
Too many bugs for my turret to handle...
And running out of food.
How do you acquire more food besides making it?
When I dig I don't get anything...

You get resources through digging, but slowly. Probably every 1 out of two digs yielded something for me. The farther out you go the more you get. I also saw resources increase minutely over time even though I was killing enemies, not digging. You can't get food without making it. My advice is too stack up on speed and digging, and gather a nice stash of resources.

In what order do you suggest I spend my points and resources?

I'll win the game again, and tell you what I did.

I love this game! It's werid because the game is incredibly easy if you know how to play it right... but the the boss level is too hard.

I finished on day 11. Maxed out digging first, then gunsmith and poured the rest in speed and dexterity pretty evenly. Early on I focused on traps/guns for my base. Mid-game I focused on beds/repair/surgical. Upgraded to the 2nd most powerful rifle, most powerful armor, most powerful scope, most powerful helmet b/w days 7-10. Coupled with 3-4 large medkits and a couple of steroid shots the boss worm went down pretty quick, I screwed up once and got myself killed, but after I recognized the pattern it was easy to avoid his fireballs.

So what is the best weapon in the game?

The best weapon is the best assault rifle available, which is right before the rocket launcher. I dunno what Louissi put the bazooka there, when it's useless.

I did what s0s did, except for the armor he used and steroids. I got level 3 armor. I never cared to make steroids, or buy scopes. Medkits are essential. I basically died a dozen or two times, winning on Day 22 after establishing a reliable pattern of movement. I kept on getting effed up by fireballs and aliens. The longer you take to finish, the more powerful the aliens become.

I used um the strongest bazooka (20rounds, tons of dmg, had to run around the field getting mats. really fast.). Had Max skills on digging and speed. Had the lowest level armor and no helmet. Used rations and medicine to save for the big ration pack - buy Adrenaline (To run into the field to get some good mats really fast) and constant big packs of health packs. Upgraded ship to full health/2nd best regen. health and 2nd best turret. Won on day 18, but that's what I figured out.
