Well hello everyone! I am the forum moderator for the Off-Topic forum, linked in the Original post (feel free to Private Message me on my Kongregate account http://www.kongregate.com/accounts/Gevock if you don't quite believe me; I understand completely). First, I'd like to apologize to the few that decided to join in on that thread. It's not right that you were so blatantly flamed and I'm sorry. However, I'd like to help ease the rift a little between both parties.
Kongregate is a big place. You know that, I know that, but let me just put it into better perspective for a second. At this moment, Kongregate's forums consist of 71,658 Topics and 1,635,602 Posts. This isn't including the game forums which would raise the posts by approximately 190,000. Armor Games is currently at 41,375 Topics and 1,061,162 Posts. This isn't belittling to either in any way, but it still shows just how active Kongregate's community is. Now the place you all were welcomed to was Off-Topic. It is moderated by myself mainly with the help of a couple others. It's at 22,210 topics, 636,354 posts. This is a little more than half the size of Armor Games' Forum. I've been moderating there for 10 months and it's been around for 3 years, so there was an entrenched community that was largely unmoderated by the time I arrived. So you put it all together: Half the size of AG's Forum, going largely unmoderated for years, and only 1 active moderator and a couple of semi-active moderators. What you have there is a maelstrom of activity and a general feeling of rebelliousness. I still love the forum and enjoy everyone in it, but they give horrible first impressions.
So I'm going to give you guys a (hopefully) better impression of how Kongregate has just as friendly a community as you do here in Armor Games. Kongregate has a new forum games forum for all the people that love to Role Play, it has a serious discussion forum for everyone that loves a good debate, it has the Kongregate forum that has regular competitions in place and such, it has a programming forum if you're in the mood for learning game development or if you're stuck and need help, and it has Off-Topic for those times that you want to check your sanity in at the door and talk about almost anything (thick skin is advised though).
I really hope you all will read this and feel the same mutual respect for Kongregate that your founders and our founders feel for each other. Just because we're not all one big website doesn't mean we can't on some level get along and find common ground between us. I know I rather enjoy many of the games Armor Games develops and I wouldn't enjoy flash gaming nearly as much without them.
Thanks for reading and I'm more than happy to respond to any questions or comments you may have about Off-Topic. Just leave a shout on my profile which was given above and I'll try my best to be timely with an answer.
Tbh i think most of what cammy g said in that thread was valid. If you go to a site, bad mouth it, expect some flameage. Also the forums on kong are fine. They are pretty much what the forums here would be like if the rules are less strict. Lets not kid ourselves, there are plenty of people here who arent paragons of virtue, and would quickly turn the forums here in the equivalent of ot on kong given more free reign from the mods. Dont get me wrong, i stay loyal to ag due to the fact i was the first site i joined and never felt the need to leave or join another site, but i do get sick of agers acting holier than thou over all other gaming sites.
if you hate the site so much, fuck-off back to your cesspit of spammers and underage kids.
i truly love the ignorance of people.... after reading that i realized how much they can contradict themselves and still flame and troll any1 who doesnt agree with them... and that is why i never go on kong except for games and achievements if any1 caresUb3rn00b3r is my kong.
I don't get why we always have to be at war with Kongregate? I read the page given, and I do see that, whilst there is an age minimum higher than here, the people at kong aren't too mature and get offensive rather quickly. I'm no fan of Kong either, but I don't think we should fight each time. I've seen many of these topics, especially as of late. Who cares which one is better? We shouldn't despise kong but improve our own community. Bah. Fighting won't do them good, nor will do us good. Cooperation is nearly always better...
