That is not new. Fallout 3 featured an alignment system where you could go from downright vile to amazingly angelic. Your moral compass dictated your dialogue and other peoples attitudes towards you. Fallout 3 did it!
fallout 3 used karma, this is a system that uses the also new faction system (and i know fallout 3 had factions) together they make a useful system were your karma could be evil but one town could love you just cause you did something for them
I think New Vegas was way over hyped, so I got it with my expectations very high, and they didn't meet those very high expectations so I was mildly disappointed. Still a good game though.

what was disappointing cause i really liked fallout 3
I was more so expecting like a drastic upgrade in graphics and other areas of the game. I mean, it's a great game and what not, but it just got over hyped like a lot of things do these days. Even Dead Rising 2, people were all like OH YA THIS GAME IS AWESOME..... I got bored of it within a week because it was just the same thing over and over again. I like the customizable weapons in New Vegas, and other things are better than F3, but then there are areas where I expected to be dazzled, and it kinda just...didn't dazzle me. So it's not so much that I was disappointed in the game, I just got over-excited. Maybe I'm getting too old for games....I hope not. I'm rambling.... I guess that's another sign of age. Most of this post you shouldn't read because it's just blah blah blah....-scratches head- I saw, get the game, play the game, just don't read the hype on it and what not, just in case, because hype tends to falter depending on the player. Just like Resident Evil: Afterlife -shakes fist- Such a disappointment.
