I think there should be a cutoff age, but I think that 12 is a little too young still. I went trick-or-treating this year. I think the age for no more trick-or-treating should be more like 18. If you haven't outgrown it by then, that's the time. And even where it is illegal, no one enforces it.
Why is it up to anyone other then the individual to determine when that individual should outgrow a form of fun? Those of you taking issue with it seem to be taking it to almost a level of hatred. I'm seeing idiot, loser and retarded thrown around about the older crowd who likes to join in. I think your the ones who are losers and lame for taking issue with something that has no effect on you.
I do understand the issue of trying to curve vandalism but telling someone they can't go trick or treating isn't going to do that.

I feel that such people have sense-of-self bias. What they think is right and others are wrong. They have an...incomplete sense of identity amongst themselves. Those who want to celebrate Halloween their way should do so; those who feel different need not interfere or induce hate. They want to have fun their way; should there be regulations for fun? Is this world evil enough to regulate fun?
Wow no way! holy *****! how is this illegal to trick or treat? I'm like older than 12 and I sometimes trick or treat. Every year I would only go for like an hour then go home. Give the candy to my little sister and just do whatever.
wow.... i dont celibrate haloween but if i would id defintely go treat or treating lol and im 17 XP i dont know if theres a cultural story in that holiday but isnt it suposed to be just pure fun? then why would it be bad to trick or treating in a praticular age???
I heard that many 13 year olds look like 21 year olds who have the capacity to abuse old people and molest single women. That's a bunch of bull.
I can understand not wanting to give candy to 21 year olds. That is BS. There's an easy solution, don't give them candy. If you're an adult, you should know how to talk to other adults and say "you're too old to trick or treat, now move out of the way for teh childrenz so i can gives dem my special, not drug induced, candies."
wow that is just flat out dumb that people would get scared of a teenage trick or treater. seriously, i don't get it. I have seen parents of some little kids in costumes but does that mean we get scared. you don't get scared to see an adult in a costume with a little kid but you get scared of a teenager in a costume. is it their fault that they are that tall. everyone just wants free candy is that so bad?
I myself don't see any problem with +12 year olds trick-or-treating. However, I believe that the older you are, the more RESPONSIBLE you should be. If I saw a pack of rowdy teens bangin on my door looking for candy, I'd not only not open the door, I'd probably turn off my porch light on them. As long as your'e behaving yourself (ex. NOT dressing up your car like a pirate ship and shooting kids with potatoe guns for their candy), and enjoying the holiday as it was meant to be enjoyed, I wouldn't have any problems handing out handfuls of snickers and twix bars to costumed teens.
BTW: snickers and twix were what I was giving out to the kids this year.
