I got this lockpick set for Christmas, and have been entertaining myself with the various locks around my house. I've got the padlocks down, but not any other locks.

What's your guy's opinions of lockpicking?

As long as you keep it to yourself, and stay away from my possessions, It's alright. Could be abused, but could also be used in cases of emergency, or a lost key scenario.

Lockpicking is mostly viewed in a negatve way I would say.. But it could help on various occasions.. I mean I can't really think of any right now.. but I'm sure there are some.. None the less t's kind of cool..

As long as you're taking it in the "I'm helping someone get their car keys back from inside their car" sort of way and not the burglar one, it's cool.

Actually it's a pretty cool skill no matter what, but the latter application of it is not cool. >_>

I agree with them its a cool skill if its used for good uses like if you forgot your keys but otherwise its just another annoyance the world doesnt need

lock picking is also useful when the key to your room is broken.

Well, padlocks are huge. Nobody has a padlock on their car or their house. I have a padlock for my locker and I really can't think of anybody knowing how to pick those types of locks other than to break into safekeeps, such as lockers.

All you need to know to lockpick is how to unbend a paperclip...

That's a nice skill to have. Really cool one too. I would just keep practicing on the locks. And eventually you'll learn. Also I find that watching things on the internet can teach you too.

Personally, I find that the best lock pick, for use on conventional wooden doors only, is four shots from a glock to the handle and surrounding woodwork. It wusually opens the door pretty quickly. I don't think someone would be happy about you using it on their car though... >_>

Lockpicking is a skill I would like to learn some day.

I would like to learn the skill too.

Lockpickign is a skill that mostly only burglars use.

It can also be used to help people. If you or someone were locked out of your house or some place you need to get into.

It is more difficult to break into a lock the your house or car use than to break into a padlock, from what I've heard.

My friend's dad is a professional locksmith and he meets with celebrity's and professional athletes everyday. They all want top security locks and they call on him. I can pick any lock in my house except for my mom and dad's. they have a code lock. I know there code but i still cant pick it.

The key to lock-picking(no pun intended) is a credit card for flimsy locks and a paper clip for more advanced locks.

Even with the paperclip, you need to know what you're doing. I bet if you inserted a paperclip into a lock, you wouldn't be able to pick it.

Also, I though locksmiths just make locks. I didn't know they also had to be able to pick them.
