I like to write but I feel I'm not very good. Sometimes I'll think of a great idea for a story and halfway through I'll decide I don't like it. It not only makes me mad, but slows me down. Any suggestions?
I've tried I have a ton of ideas on my computer and notebook, but they just don't seem like good ideas. Plus my computers broken so I can only write in my notebook, which isnt my favorite way to write.
sure I do, I think you should write anything even if it is bad, or atleast your ideas and wait until your good and then you can start writting. You should save what you got and the come back later and see if you like it
Nope.
I can help you, first of all:
What do you want to write? Poetry? Fiction? Writing in general?
If writing has thaught me anything, it's that about 90% of what is produced at first is hideous and unpalatable. My first advice would be to start at the beginning; try writing something not too substantial at first. The key's to actually ''complete'' something. When you've wrote something whole, you can come back on it; see what has been done wrong or what could have been done better, what could be changed to benefit the text.
My second advice would be to read. Up until a few years ago, I barely had the minimum notes to succeed in my French classes, even though I often won local writing contests; that's because even though literature won't inoculate you grammar, it will help you for the overall purpose of writing in manners such as sentence construction and vocabulary.
It's good to have a variety too. Finding what's best for you doesn't have to be one thing. Who knows, maybe in a year or two you WILL write sci-fi a little. Nobody knows. Not even you. Keep trying to do what's best for you and don't give up hope. No matter what anyone tells you, you can do great work. Just the fact that you can write at all is better than some people. Believe in yourself before expecting others to believe in you. You are special and so is your taste in writing.
Can't help you, then. I love sci fi more than I love my mother.
:P
Kidding, I can help you. If you want, go to the short story contest and look at my "How to get a good score on a short story" thing in there. It'll help you if you want to make good fiction.
For poetry, though, if you want any help please contact IcyIndia, the poetry Jesus for help.
Oh, don't be sad. You guys are awesome, too. It's just that you didn't get 12000000000 people posting on your profile that your poetry is awesome. Besides, you guys' poems are greatly appreciated, only less than Icy's.
That's exactly what I'm saying!! WAAAAAAAAH!! *Starts to run towards the exit, bumping everyone in the way*
I think her productivity makes part of this opinion, after all, even if wolf and I are a little less productive than we used to be, wolf did get voted poet of the month before Icy. I'm not trying to minimise Icy's talent; it just pains me to see that older members like us are kind of forgotten -.-
More than half of my merits have been won through poetry writing after all ^^. Oh, anyways, my comments above, if you want any more help don't hesitate to post on my profile, and yes, Icy's g..good *Sob*
Well, you could just start out writing a paragraph or two on random topics. That's how I started. I asked my friends for a theme, and I wrote a short story on it. Good Luck! -Polly357
I feel like the dust under my bed, but heh; got to leave the place to the other talented poets right. I ought to write some more these days but I'm prtty busy with school and that friggin literature contest. I kind of made a deal with my French teacher to have my submission count as 100% of my final note so I have to work pretty **** hard.
i've found that it helps to first write out an outline of what direction you want the story to go in, and the major events. then fill in the space with dialogue and everything else.
