Most of the problems with the Xbox 360 have been solved since the new 'Slim' version came out. They removed the red LEDs used to make the red rings (Yay!) so they won't be a problem anymore.
The new X-Box doesn't have this problem though and it's a lot quieter.
Yeah, I also heard they have improved the consoles ability to stay cooler and quieter compared to that of the previous 360s. My friend has got one and I barely notice it on when I go over to play.
I really don't see a point in purchasing them if they break constantly. You're better off just getting a PS3 or Wii.
Many other people have said that as well about the 360 but sometimes it's just bad luck. Someone also took this advice and went through 6 different PS3s from the original to the latest. Xboxs also doesn't break as much as they redesigned internally too.
I just think consoles these days don't seem to last as long as it's predecessors. This could be down to the increasing demand for them, leading to quantity rather than quality.

They really don't. I still have my PS2 & Xbox and they work fine. But with these new consoles they break in about 1-5 years. Depends on how you take care of them, of course. But I think it's because of all the extra junk they put into the consoles that make the life expectancy of them decrease. While on the PS2 & Xbox, you have gaming consoles that play videos. Nothing more and nothing less. They last a long time.
i got red rings of death about 2 yrs ago. My xbox hasnt broke since. However some games break because i "drop them a lot" (more like get pissed and snap them lol)
I have had my xbox for about three years. The only problem that I have had with it is very rarely, the laser doesn't like to read the disc or the spinner has problems, but this is rare. I mostly use it for movies and gamefly nowadays though
