The hammering struck clearly on the balmy Spring day two weeks past the official start of the season. Of course, no one would heed the diminutive rabbit as he hastened to the next post with rodent-like fluidity. But he wasn't a rodent. He was a rabbit, or possibly a hare. No one knew for sure which, but that didn't matter. What mattered were the posters he had posted up all along the ways and thoroughfares of Armor Games.
I don't know what you're talking about. Mayfest is never a joke. It is too awesome to be a joke. We don't spend time drawing posters for something that's not real. It was cancelled last year due to lack of interest.
Since I'm running a bit short on time after starting this a little later than intended, (Starting it on April 1st again would've been a joy.) here is the preliminary information to get started:
~~~Mayfest 2011~~~
Mayfest is coming! For real this time! This is a new tournament for characters like you to participate in, have fun, and be creative. So what is the point of this Mayfest? I'm sure there's something somewhere around here that says something. Be prepared for 7 days of challenges that will award one winner the Grand Pies!
Mayfest is hosted by the Rabbit Guy, and yes, he can ban you for inappropriate behavior. In-universe actions do not necessarily translate to real world actions. Mayfest is set up entirely within the Arts Plaza, so there's lots of space to move around and no blockage of streets. The layout of the Festival and activities are detailed in the Mayfest schedule.
Challenges will start before May 15th and run until about August-September real time, so please make sure you have time to participate before you apply. In-universe time is 7 days, however, so it will start on May 15th and end on May 21st even though it's August. That means each round is one day. Writing, drawing, animating, etc. or a mix of any of those is a must for contestants. Creativity is encouraged all around.
There will be roles for non-contesting participants, i.e. you do not have to be a contestant to take part in this event.
The deadline to apply for the main plot will be Saturday, May 7th, 9:00 pm PST. (That's May 8th, 12:00 am AG Time.) This is a strict deadline, as the contestants need to prepare for the first challenge before the start of the Festival. All other deadlines are flexible, but I wouldn't encourage being late for the first official challenge. You may only submit one character to participate.
~~~For Contestants~~~
Contestants will enter into the official competition for the Pies and face challenges that may result in their elimination!
Please fill out a character sheet for your character according to the Official AG characters template and send it to mpieforkfest at gmail.com for approval. Once your character is approved, you are ready for the first challenge. All challenges are listed on the schedule, but not all events listed on the schedule are challenges!
Contestants have until May the 8th AG time to apply, to allow for character tweaks and fixes and the first challenge, as preparation for the first round of Mayfest must start before the 15th of May.
~~~Other Participants~~~
Mayfest is open to everyone, not just challengers! There will be opportunities for cameos, but you still need to submit a character sheet. Participants are not part of the official competition for the Pies. Additionally, Mayfest needs a Pie King and/or Pie Queen chosen from a pool of participants who wish to be Pie King/Pie Queen. Contestants are not eligible for this role.
Other participants have until the last challenge to submit their character sheets. Those wishing to be Pie King or Pie Queen must submit by May the 8th. Including an essay as to why your character wants to be Pie King or Pie Queen will greatly improve your chances.
After being gone for an entire week, I think I might pieticipate in this contest, but I forkot if any pictures included in the sheet are required. I'm not berry artistic for this kind of stuff. I can bake a mean character sheet though.
