They have about the same number of notes. But while a clarinet rocks the lower notes, a flute can rock the higher ones. If you turned flute music upside down, you might be able to play it on a clarinet, and vice versa.

I play many instuments... :\\ Flute (picc as well), clarinet, saxophone, oboe, percussion instruments (mallets included), piano, guitar (acoustic and electric), bass, french horn, mellophone, and I'm learning viola at the moment. Next instrument I want to learn is cello, that or trumpet.
I've learnt Alto Saxophone for 8 years, and so I play that fairly well I hope. That's my main instrument.
Because it is a saxophone, I can also play the Tenor and Baritone Saxophone - I play the bari in a school band.
I also can play the Clarinet and the recorder, as well as some tin whistles and Irish whistles.
I try to play piano, am slowly getting better at it. My other instruments that I try to play do are ukulele (I'm alright), guitar, bass guitar, voice and harmonica.
