this topic was created to inform guests and users of colony on how to spot hackers and glitchers and differentiate between them and average colony members.Please point out possible mistakes i've made in this guide.
Hacks are cheats used by a separate program. These are usually the worst people to be up against. Some hacks include free buildings, instant creation of units, resource draining, demolition of other players buildings, loss of control over a unit, and the instant win saint...Though it is very difficult to spot who actually hacks in-game, there are ways to spot potential hackers out of game. This consists of: Abnormal ranks- Ranks 11-20 (to check stats type /stats "username" Irregular wins- Containing a silver/gold rank with less than 42 wins or players with over 2000 games played(Though it is possible to become rank 10 with 42 consecutive wins it is your choice to risk it). KEEP IN MIND-Amazing players can have a silver by 100 wins and reach thier gold ranks at around 300-400. Rank 10 is usually earned at around 700+ wins Spam- Hackers can spam the chat much more than other users kick test- type /kick "username" to kick a user, If u can kick them they hack Cursing- People who bypass the censors has a high chance of hacking
Hackers are probably one of the most tedious things in colony but there is no need to go crazy over a thing such as that. Befriend a few users and watch each others backs. Do not always believe a random user's word saying that someone is a hacker
Glitches are probably one of the easier things to spot. I personally divide glitches into three categories. Creation, Influence, and resource Creation- The Creation of a unit/object in the improper mode Ex. Scouts in earthquake, Marines in Dogfight, Missles in cold war Influence- The abnormal stockpile of influence- your influence immediately jumps to 200 and can be used for influence units of your choice Money/resource glitch- to gain resources from units/ buildings
Creation is obvious on how to spot....With resource glitch you may notice your opponent's building panel flashing rapidly or abnormally. That's a big sign for resource glitch. However a more sneaky way is if they use units for glitching. Click on a building that creates units. If u notice the production bar is flashing rapidly there is a chance you ether have lag or they are glitching. The last way, influence glitch, is the hardest to determine. True monarchy gives you 3 influence but that's only about 25 influence per minute(monarchy receives resources every 7 seconds). However, there is also Travel influence. Travel influence is influence you gain for having units on a certain spot on the field(1 for close to base, 2 for midfield,3 for close to opponents base).This makes it even harder to determine. The only real way to determine whether your opponent influence glitched is by experience. For example- In a 1on1 match between me and another user i experimented around with a communist build. The opponent won the field and created 3 spec forces(bank,forge ,spec ops). So i punished with a missile. He created a 4th spec forces. That was a glitch. From experience if you create 3 spec forces with that build you typically have no more than 10 influence.
Code- Code are tricks in colony that can be done when typing something. CODE CAN BE DONE BY THE AVERAGE USER. Some well known codes are font size changes, font color changes, whisper, friendlist, stats check, kick, large blank space/blank line, and cursing(not too sure if that's a code). Just because a user uses code that does not mean they hack
Bugs/system errors- Bugs are errors in the game.These are not controlled by a user.Some of these errors include: the disappearing base- Base demolishes while health remains invincible unit-a unit or units stay on the field having 0 health "null has left the game"- At the start of the game no one can build "Username" has nulled- There's a split in connection. The games are no longer linked. As a result units on your screen may blow up on another persons screen. Black queen stall- Black queens refuse to attack air units because it was distracted by ground units Marine missiles the base- Your opponent has air units and you charge with marines/S marines. Their air attack attacks base instead of their ground Ground attacks air- When base is down, if you charge your units they can attack air Ex. phantoms attack scouts, mod. sakatas attack saints
Extra information: Yes guests can have ranks past 1 without hacking Yes some guests hack No not all guests hack Yes Guests can use code without hacking No glitching is ok to say... No hacking is showing your ignorance... Average users can use code Bugs occur randomly... Do not immediately blame someone for hacking.... Be careful when accusing someone of influence glitching... Travel influence can nearly double their influence, throwing off your own count

it is possible to become rank 10 with 42 consecutive wins
I believe it is 64 consecutive wins in order to achieve rank 10.
Base demolishes while health remains
Most cases when the base is destroyed when people thought it still had a load of health it is due to lag. I have played a lot of games with my hovers seemingly literally a mile away from base and it turns out I had actually been hitting it. Lol.
invincible unit-a unit or units stay on the field having 0 health
In my experience, that only happens after someone nulls. Of course, you don't have to be hacking to null. It can just be a game error.
Black queen stall- Black queens refuse to attack air units because it was distracted by ground units
Don't think it is a bug, this kind of thing happens with all air units it is just more noticeable with the black queen as it's ground attack is much, much slower which means it gets out a lot less attacks against the air units.
Marine missiles the base- Your opponent has air units and you charge with marines/S marines. Their air attack attacks base instead of their ground
This happens with all units that have an air and ground attack. I.e. a sphinx set on charge whilst there is a scout on enemy field can also hit the base with air attack.
Yes guests can have ranks past 1 without hacking
No, this is due to hacking, guest cannot progress in stats whatsoever. There have been people who called themselves guest123414 or whatever without the "_" in the name who have had higher than rank 1 but guests with more than rank 1 would have had to have hacked for that to be possible even if they didn't hack whilst playing you.
The black queen stall is because the ground attack has further range than the air attack so if the air and ground units are at the same place the black queen will only hit the ground unit
Guests do not get their games saved they always have 0 games played
"null has left the game" could be null actually leaving the game if someone is on the null account and in my experience it usually happens when there is a hacker
When someone nulls and they leave the game immediately that means they were hacking since you dont know when you get nulled

That is incorrect. The Black Queen's air attack might be slow against air whilst there are units on the ground but if there aren't any, a black queen can easily kill a saint. the reason for stalling attacks, as I previously stated is because is due to the Black Queens slow attack against ground stalling it from attacking air. It is not a bug, it just makes the BQ less powerful than it is which I think is a good thing,
the "null has left the game" thing of course doesnt have to be a hacker and usually isnt a person named null leaving... it can also be a harmless bug, but more times than not it will have some affect or meaning. -a glitch/er -someone due to a glitch has left the game -someone is reallllly lagging.
I will clear up the null bugs. There are 5 null bugs I think.
-processing/lag; 3 types (known to many as resource glitching) -login; 2 types (there is a user named null, so this one gets confusing) -detection; 3 types (when server notices cheating) -server split; many types (when server separates users from the match server) -match chat; 1 type (spamable post with no charaters)
I will explain these later, my current projects are finishing the Hall of Fame, and updating my YouTube videos' info.
errr...i knew i had a lot of mistakes somewhere... as for the bq thing i didn't know what to categorize that as and i am aware that if ground units are present its attacks will slow down... however i kind of looked at the bq slowing in real life(why would the pilot not defend themself just because he can fire another ground missle when there's air units in range of anti air missles).thanks for correcting me on the consecutive wins peg... Also i have played as guests on a couple of occasions and after numerous games i have ranked to rank 4 and 2. I am sure i played on the armorgames site and not on a hack site.Again it is possible guests hacked for their ranks. It is your choice to risk it or not.
a few additional bugs known in colony is the
communist influence reset- when communist has over 100 influence and kills a unit and gains influence, they reset back to 100 Ghost game- You join a game while someone starts or another person joins can end up blank campaign match 1- destroying base without losing a unit will prevent the chat from starting.(according to Yos it requires 1300 marines) Lag kill- When the game gets to laggy shots of units may not appear causing some units to die, also sometimes simply moving your unit puts it at risk of suicide under very laggy conditions

So I tried marines, and you need allot to take the Base down without losing a unit. I fial 4 times, so I decided to use a Sphinx.
A Sphinx followed by a medic spam can activate this bug. You can actually see the bug better this time. The problem is the trigger for the diolog is death, not base/unit fire.
Well, yeah, obviously the guy in the BQ would attack with both weapons simultaneously in real life.:P
Also i have played as guests on a couple of occasions and after numerous games i have ranked to rank 4 and 2.
I don't see how this would be possible as you are always set at "Games played: 0" "Games won: 0" Win Ratio - " " Consecutive wins: 0" "Rank 1" And no matter how many games you play, those statistics do not change.
very true but the ranks still changed without recording the actual games...ill try it again one more time just to make sure i wasn't crazy o_e... my info is like 3 months old...it might be a bug idk....
