So the question is really, have u ever heard a game is coming out and it had all of this hype and everyone was saying how great it was going to be, then u buy it and think that it was overly anticipated? Mine is call of duty black ops. I was hearing all of this stuff like "Zombies is going to be the ebst thing in CoD history.." "It's going to be the best first person shooter to date..." and all of this other stuff. So initially i was excited to get it for my birthday, but after playing it for about 15 i thought that all of the hype that it got turned out to be false. I didnt rally like the game all that much. Has this ever happend to you?

Well its your mistake for expecting so much out og CoD -.-

On topic, nothing that comes to mind right now. Duke Nukem Forever was a bit plain compared to its older counterparts, maybe Brink but nothing that makes me "OH WHY [developer] WHY?!?!"

One big one was Fable 2. I heard so many good things about it, then was bored to tears when I played it.

Call of Duty Black Ops is an amazing game. You just don't realize it because all you base your opinion on is the multiplayer. And not even the multiplayer but the people who play.

I think even though it was a little over dramaticized sometimes, Black Ops was pretty good. They did a lot of things right with the multiplayer. And the campaign was pretty good too.

But on topic, I've never really had a game dissapoint me. Of course I don't get play very many games.

Hahaha, yes, and very recently - this year. I had so many good critics about Dragon Age that I decided to buy it witout trying it first; 75 bucks straight to the crappers. I detested the gameplay so much I played it for about 5 hours - just to be sure but it was actually hard to do so - and brung it back at a video game exchange store for a 30$ worth credit. Talk about money wasting.

It all comes down to how the developers want to enhance and change the gameplay in my opinion...Whenever they make a sequil they try new things and often fail to make it better, such as sequals to movies. The only bad experience i have really had with a new game was Dragon Age 1 and 2...both games were not good

Dragon Quest IX. The story isn't so bad, the music is good, but the puns are horrid. The real reason I hate it was because much of the classic formula has been changed. I haven't beaten the game yet, but my complaints are that there is no proper "hero" class, terrible class changing, and a complete re-working of the mechanics I've been used to. The only saving grace for it is the multiplayer.

So many games have disappointed me, but mostly of all of them was Dragon Age 2.
DA1 was fantastic, much longer, could travel more, more enemies, more hours of play, whereas, in DA2, the same 'mazes' a used over and over, less enemies, weapons etc. The new interface is annoying, still a fantastic game and everything but it could be far better.

Donkey Kong Country Returns. I had heard good things about the series, but when I played it it was almost an exact copy of Super Mario Bros. So, basically, I bought a duplicate of a game I already had... Overall, it was incredibly simple and not engaging at all. I can't continuously play it like I can other games.

Almost every Need for speed game. EA did it right with most wanted and underground 1 and 2, but failed to keep any element from those games and they decided to create a whole new game with the same aspect but not the same stuff that made need for speed so great. It was rather disappointing, it had so much potential...

I'm definitely going to have to agree with that. I honestly wish they had kept some of the features from underground 2 in some of their later games. I mean sure neon lights and hydraulics are pretty pointless in a racing game, but that was part of what made it a fun game, because it was also a sandbox game at the same time where you could outrun the police and just drive around town towards missions if you wanted to. Need for Speed games now feel like they are trying to focus on the Forza and Gran Turismo audiences.

Anyways another game that I felt a bit disappointed by was Gears of War 2 because when I played the story mode it didn't feel like a gritty tactical shooter where you had to plan out how you were going to take down the giant guy with a rocket launcher, because by the end of it they acted as much like fodder as any other enemy in the game which gave the game a run-and-gun feel that should never exist in a tactical shooter.

There is also Call of Duty: World at War(my expectations for the series were lowered after this so I can't say the same for all of the one's afterwords) and this is simply because it felt too much like Call of Duty 4, where as the jump from 3 to 4 was huge, going to 5 and beyond they felt more like expansion packs to me.

There is also the few Spyro games I played on the PS2 after Insomniac abandoned the franchise, along with maybe a couple of other games, but off the top of my head that's about all of the major games that did not meet my initial expectations.

Call of Duty World at War for Wii fails. It's so much worse then the XBOX version. Has worse graphics, worse multiplayer levels and challenges. and doesn't have zombies!

Modern Warfare 2, and Black Ops both failed to meet my expectations. Although both could have been easily fixed, they never were. Which I find even more disappointing.

For the most experienced gamers out there; has anyone been disappointed by Chrono Cross? I expected a fantastic game due to the quality of Chrono Trigger, but when I rented it, I was so let down I never got through it.
