It was a strong strategy, it was the only thing that could match my dual-build. I wish it would go back to those types of games because the game was balanced more than it is now.
I wish it would too. And yes it was way more balanced way back then. Everything was better back then.
Back then, I don't think influence units existed. I'm not sure if the influence bar was there or not. And I disagree with the balancing thing. I played this a long time ago(as guest) and black queen(hovers some time as well) were pretty much a game ender, and a huge threat when you've racked up like 50 or so tanks and other stuff. I'm glad we got new units now to deal with them threats, now I can send a single sphinx and wipe out the heavies Provided I take care of the upcoming roman spam next, of course.
There was always influence, but not monarchy and some special units; and the sanctum. Influence units were very high in cost back in the old days, like:
Medic Squad = 10 medics for 100 Special Forces = 100 Mod Sakata = 100 Mod Phantom = 100
It wasn't until early winter (nov 09) the I figured out how influence was given and spread the word to the pros. This was right after the roman tactics (Spam and Wall) were thought up by me when playing versus Jayden in the longest Colony 1v1 (1 hour and 14 minutes, I know it was longer than an hour).
When Ultimus came into the Colony scene he used this information to create the first version of the Bank-Post, which aloud the user to make a marine and get fast early influence. This is when my Dual-Build became outdated.
During the Bank-Post reign, Colony was patched to reduce hacking, and some influence actions were made viable. All the cost were changed from 100 to 50. I think the Medic Squad became what it is now, but I'm not sure; it could have been 50 for 10 medics.
That's all I have to offer right now about the History of Colony. What do you guys think?
No they 10 Medics were always 100. Then when everything else went down it went 3 medics for 20. This is when war sanctum was added. But even before then i loved how much variation there was in the game... To mass hovers you had to do: Solar grid, armory, armory, arsenal; since there was no war sanctum. I miss this so badly as it came done to really good micro and macro to keep ur hovers alive long enough to get out medics. Ahh the good old days...
