People who rush ruin the fun of colony, unless both parties agree to it, no one should rush.

p.s. Some of the &quotros" will act demeaning towards noobs, at least that is what I got from some of there tone.

There are people like cont and YOS, and people like MBA and poliwags. There's a difference.

Tactics are tactics, if your tactic is aggravating then that is fine. If you are annoyed with an enemy tactic, study it and learn to counter it. This applies to all games. There is nothing wrong with rushing in colony, a skilled player should be able to counter any tactic.
Colony is a strategy game, you can use whatever strategy you want, no matter how annoying it is. If it wins often, it is a good tactic, nothing else.

This applies to all games

Nope it only applies to game with good design and balance.
That's why many games including Colony have patches that change around various stats.

I just discovered how useful rushing is. Look:

1) instant k.o. also known as rushing romans

2) pinning so enemy will beg you to kill him

3) influence for fast saints

I want to thank guesty9999 for this.

1) NOOB

2) mean

3) Cheap

there is a way to get fast influence with out being mean to those who are not good at rushing. put out medics.

p.s. that gave me a great idea. INFLUENCE BATTLES, basically you are restricted to medics (to gain influence) and units that cost influence.

marine: "MEDIC"

1) NOOB

Jacen. You cannot call people noobs if they rush. Everyone has their strategy.

2) mean

Mean, but it works. Lots of people dont show any mercy. Why should i show anyone else?

3) Cheap

Does this mean you like it?

It's bad to think of it as rushing. Think of it as doing something instead of sitting on a bank for 10 minutes while getting solar grid in a post build.

their is no strategy to rushing romans, because all you do is build a forge and then mass, (might build generator as well). Maintaining a tank rush is a little more impressive.

What are you referring to?

@Jacen96:
Think of rushing/pinning as another tactic, cruel tactics are often the better ones. If it works, its a good strategy. If you cannot counter rushers with your current strategy, it may be wise to create a new strategy to counter rushers when they decide to rush.

since i was mentioned:
I want to thank guesty9999 for this.
ide rather like to clear up any missunderstandings. first off, those arent stand-alone strategies, but certain tactics to be used in certain situations.
so, lets see:

1) instant k.o. also known as rushing romans

that is useful in alot of situations, such as when playing as fasc (and sometimes mon or cap, or even commie), and wishing to end the game before the enemy can out-build u.

2) pinning so enemy will beg you to kill him[/qoute]

that is not so much a tactic in pro games, as it is the ressult of the battle for the middle. that is, after one person already practicly lost, then they get pinned and officialy killed. in other words: if u get solidly pinned, you've pretty much lost....

also, i dont think its meen/sadistic to pin. it IS aggresive, but when i play, it isnt that i enjoy watching the other preson struggle. in fact, by the time i pin someone, i am either dissapointed they didnt put up a fight, or i've already won the battle.
3) influence for fast saints

that was most probably jeff watching me playing cap in a 1v1. however, saints arent the only thing you can get, and are only one option to be used when u deem it proper and fitting. influence units are a useful trick u can keep up your sleeve, as often the units u can get with inf can be used to play different roles than the units u can get normaly, and therefore allow uto cover each units weaknesses with another unit. examples can be provided from almost any succsesful pro (1v1) build:
infinite tank spam supported with a saint
a pride picking marines at range to cover scouts form those marines
etc...

influence itself is a very neat mechanic, which i belive to be an important part in keeping this game active and interesting. rewarding players for bold playstyle and encouraging active and aggresive tactics meens the game isnt stale and boring, as im sure most pros would agree.

basicly, the game was made to reward aggresive playstyles and make the game active.
a great summing up of the mindset of the player can be found here:

look for DracoTheDragon's post, somewhere neer the botom. its long, and u cant really miss it.

so... yeah.... first time BB coding, and i hope it doesnt get all messed up....

anyway.... good luck, and have fun in your future games

Did you use the buttons?

If you don't give them a chance to fight, pinning is kinda mean.

What are you referring to?

...I'm referring to rushing in general lol.

Also, pinning someone without giving them "a chance to fight" is not a mean thing. Whoever's pinning is not the one at fault, and he/she should not be considered to be so. Its the one being pinned who either did not win the fight for field control, or did not care for field control. Either way, the only person they can blame for getting pinned is themselves.
