I recently became interested in drawing and sculpting. I thought I'd share some of my art here. I'd appreciate some advice (I know that I definitely have a problem with my darks. Working on that.) I think I'll start off with a few recent drawings.
The Lady
And
The Gentleman
They're pretty simple characters. I haven't come up with a real story for the yet. But whatever it is, I want it to start off really simple, and get a little bit complex.
Wolfslove
I really hope that I'll eventually be able to make a story, but I'm not sure I have the endurance for that right now. I tried it before but I didn't come close to finishing. So for now I'll post new drawings and see if I can make my way up to that.
I got an idea for a story for The Gentleman and the Lady. So I started working on them, but I only really have sketches so far. The plan is to draw out the story with sketches and make sure I have everything. Then to go back and revise, add, redraw, ect... So here's some of chapter 1, its a day in the life of The Gentleman.
Nice drawings and sketches so far! I especially love that background in the first page.
Although, if I may add, the nose on the profile/side of the gentleman is a bit awkward. It makes it seem like it is jutting out from the side of his head, rather than the middle. May I suggest either drawing the other eye, or making it so that the base of the nose isn't visible.
The monster was misunderstood! Unfortunately The Gentleman doesn't really understand how his world works a lot of the time. This can lead to silly mistakes and it also makes it difficult to get work done. * HINT HINT*
I'm going to finish chapter 1, then take a break with some other drawings I've had on my mind. Chapter 2 will be a day in the life of The Lady.
Nope. As much as I would love to finish that story, I can't get myself to focus on it. I have an idea, love it, draw it out, and just a few pages in I have another idea. That's why storytelling is last in the title. If I can find the motivation I'll finish. but until then I guess I'll just continue on with the drawing and sculpting.
Here's a soldier out of paper. For some reason I got Ares stuck in my head and wanted to do something war related. I have another in drawing, but I'm still working on him. Right now I'm working with clay and made something the looks a little like mount rushmore with random animal heads. I'm currently sculpting a chubby lady.
Your spongebob looks good. The left leg seems to be awkwardly further back than the right, but that is my only major complaint on the figure. AND WHAT"S THAT?! BLENDING! If you can just smoothen up your transitions from lighter to darker, you will be well on your way to being a great artist.
And I can't wait to see your clay sculpture. Your paper one is really good.

Thanks! I definitely see what you mean with the leg. And I don't know why but for some reason I thought it would look better to have the shades of blue so separate. I think I forgot how light worked. That's what I get for doing it at 3 in the morning.

I was thinking about adding some paint to the paper. The white paper can make the composition a little dry. So in my chubby lady sculpture (which is no longer just a chubby lady, more on that later) I'll add painted paper sculptures.
This art is great. Poor monster, next time he should offer cookies.
I don't know why I like this idea so much... I just do. I need to draw this.
Spongebob is holding... a book... with no words. He should return that to the library and file a complaint.
I know... the book looks so weird >.< But the drawing was for a friend, and it was just easier to leave a blank space for him to fill. My handwriting is terrible.
Awesome sculpture, it just screams out make more.
I will . I'm in a summer camp where I take a sculpture class. So I'll be doing a lot more sculptures.
Here's the clay sculpture. It still needs to be put in the kiln. And painted. But what its supposed to be now is from left to right, a tanuki, a dinosaur, and a piggy bunny.
Those clay sculptures...great work. Especially the first. And the second. And the third. Good work!
Thank you. The tanuki was the hardest, and I'm still going to need to put more work in painting him so he'll look like an actual tanuki. But the piggy bunny was pretty easy and came out better than expected.
I haven't finished my clay and paper sculpture yet, but that should be done soon. Also coming soon are a couple if drawings from my dream. A sea buffalo, and two people catching a bird with fishing rods.
