Here's a way to show other, less heard of bands, the limelight. Just to even the playing field. Here, I'd like people to name any bands they may know that others haven't heard of. Tell how you may have found them, and a few songs that you like. You never know. You may find someone you like. I'll start:

One some people may not know is Modest Mouse (Lead singer:Isaac Brock, drummer:Jeremiah Green, bassist:Eric Judy, and guitaristann Gallucci) . I've actually gotten into this group was from Weird Al. One of his Most recent polkas "Polka Power" had a section of Modest Mouse's song "Float On." I looked up the song, and got hooked. Some of their songs include "Float On", "Ocean Breathes Salty", and "Dashboard."

Your Turn!

Hey great idea StraightJakeMan

Big Star, they are a band from the 1970's, they are a great rock band introduced to me by my brother, he knows alot of bands that are uncommon.

Also Captain Beefheart and his magic band

Are we going to be mentioning bands as well known as modest mouse? or do you mean legitimately unheard of? Modest mouse is far from that......far....

Ayreon-Probably the single greatest one-man band ever! He plays like 10 instruments, and gets guests to do drums and percussion, and has 10+ vocalists on each album. Arjen Lucassen is his name and he's a genius. Go pick up "The Human Equation" if you like any metal, NOW!

Manchester Orchestra-They got a little bit of radio time, but they deserved a lot more! These guys were originally from my church, and they struggled for a long time...then when they graduated and picked up some new bandmates they suddenly found what they needed. They have one album out "I'm like a virgin losing a child" there lyricist is brilliant and they have a very original sound. They are alternative Rock?(my best guess)

Finnally,
Spastic Ink- These guys are UBER-COMPLEX every one of the members are AMAZING at their instruments. Its absolutely incredible how good they are. And they use very strange subject material in their lyrics soo its actually somewhat funny. They are Progressive/Technical Metal.

Make sure you keep the responses legitimate, and offer some content with the band names. Most people are doing great with this!

Tegan and Sara is my new favourite, lesser known band. They're actually better known than probably most of the bands here. Their music sounds like the Rentals a bit (some synth) but their voices are beautiful, and the lyrics are great! AND they're identical twins!

Let me give a few more I know (not sure about everyone else):

1. Ludo: Found out about them through my friend. She found the music video for "Love Me Dead," and I've loved them ever since. In fact, it was only just yesterday! Songs include "Love Me Dead," "Good Will Hunting By Myself," and "Go-Getter Greg." This band is Very similar to My Chemical Romance.

2. My Chemical Romance (seems anyone I see hasn't heard of this band for some reason)- A slightly EMO-type band, lots of depressing, punk, or Heavy rock songs. I found out about them from, again, my friend. She had me listen to "The Black Parade" and I was shortly addicted to their Punk-ness. Songs include "The Black Parade," "This Is How I Disappear," and "Famous Last Words."

3. Crash Test Dummies- A slightly large band, they do alot of Alternative/Folk(ish) music. Lead singer has very unique voice. Songs include "Winter Song," "Afternoons And Coffeespoons," and "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm"

Earshot. They have one popular song, called wait, but that is definitely not their best. They have two albums, two, and letting go. Letting go is more of a heavy metal-type album, and wait, is like a hard rock album. I reccomend, off of two, wait and tongue-tied, and off of letting go, headstrong, get away, ordinary girl, and we fall, we stand.

I think Ludo so should a little bit more known. I like most of their songs and my favorite one from them is "Love me dead".

I'm not sure if Five Finger Death Punch is very well known. A lot of my friends have never heard of them and I think they are a great band. My favorite song of theirs is "The Bleeding".
