I heard this on either Colbert Report or Daily Show, neither of which are reliable, but the person who was interviewed was. He is the most popular newscaster for hispanic news, and the most watched newscaster in new york city, if that gives perspective. he claimed that by the year 2108 at the current rate of immigration and reproduction caucasians would be outnumbered by hispanics.
do you think that is a possibility? do you think it's a problem? can anyone even argue that America isn't as much for hispanics as caucasians? what nationality does America really belong to?
Huh. I wonder how that will affect politics. Will the government pay more attention to the lower of the classes now that they make up the majority?
Anyways, it doesn't seem like a problem, but I would need to see the economic (progress) predictions of this groups. If there are too many lower class, there may not be enough jobs for them.
I've always thought America's overall nationality leaned towards the majority or the majority with power. It's more dependent on everybody's opinion. (kinda like how a potential country usually needs to be recognized as a country by the world before they can actually be a country)
There's already a statistic showing that the majority in Texas will be Hispanic and Latino by 2012...I think that it could eventually happen on a national scale, but not for a very, very long time.
it is probable that there is currently more hispanics in the US.. its not hard to imagine. since we only know an estimate of our population and ethnicity bases on census's and taxes so yeah its probable.
Projecting something like that, with it being that far out is just ridiculous. The quote was probably something more like "If current trends continue, Hispanics will outnumber Caucasians in the U.S. in 100 years." But it is unlikely that current immigration trends will continue given the resistance to immigration felt by many U.S. citizens and the faltering economic situation coupled with high unemployment. Heck, in 100 years we might have blown ourselves up!
Actually in probably 500 years, scientists are predicting, because we have optimum travel technology, we will have bred with all races and will look the same, because of transferring of phenotypes. Now before you will prove me wrong, you probably will, because this is in 500 years, and this is a hypothesis, which hypotheses can be wrong. This is what I've learned about in high school. (8 years ago; such a good time it was)

Thats ridiculous! How will we breed with all the races? What percent of the population is actually living out of their country, somewhere out of range of their ethnicity.
And a breed of all races would take much more then 500 years. And it could only be achieved if you had a master plan. Else, it would have to be a evolutionary process.
Like I said, just a hypothesis. And actually yes it is possible. Think about places that allow all ethnicities in countries (e.g. USA). It is possible; it will happen here faster than it will happen in other countries though.
I don't know if it is possible, but I do think that our southern border needs some patchwork. I have no doubt that mexicans are shuttling in here by the hundreds every day. Personally, I think that we need a better armed border patrol with a license to kill. I also think that we need a wall built, but it will take congress 20 years to debate it, then 20 more years to decide what color to paint it. I think that we will never fix the border. Just another problem with the USA.
Even in the USA, people breed with their own ethnicity almost 100% of the time. This is why I said you would need a plan. You would need the majority to cooperate. 500 years is just way to low of a number. Thats only 5 generations. Think about it, how can a 100% American go from that to a mix of all the races?
Tell me Pyro. What IS wrong with Mexicans? Sure they want in badly. But you got to admit. Most of them have better work ethics than we Americans do right?
That is because using America's exchange rate (even in these times), one US dollar is like ten pesos. Mexicans work their asses of to bring over their families. My problem is that, constitution rights or not, America's official language is English, and it ticks me off when they can't speak a word of English. Furthermore, there are too many mexicans coming in at once, and they aren't citizens, so they don't have to pay taxes.
