Before you call on me for misspelling my topic title, that's the point of this thread.

Which do you people use, "color" or "colour"? I've always been used to colour myself, even though it's not the American way to spell the word. It looks more like the sound of the word than color. Color sounds like colon, and that's not very colourful.

I usually use color and honor and humor, etc. People usually tend to use the spelling of the word based on how they were taught as a child. Sometimes people change it though.

Well different countries have their own spellings and use of grammar. People can spell words anyway they want to but you are taught to use a word a specific way depending on the country you are taught.

The use of the spelling "colour" in America is a misspelling. Like the spelling "color" would be in England for example. That's just the way it is. All someone can do is either move or put up with getting an F on a spelling test.

As Kris said. Colour is the English way of spelling the American "color". Personaly I use 'Colour', since I have been taught English, not American.

It is like using the word Mate as either your friend or your girlfriend/boyfriend.

Mate? I thought that to mean your partner was only used in a rather specific subcultural context.

Then again I live in Australia where everybody says "mate" anyway xD

If you live in America, spell it the American way. If you live in England, spell it the English way.

Colour is Canadian and European English spelling. Color is American. So I'm Canadian and say Colour.

Me = Canadian = colour, neighbour, etc.

Yeah, you should spell it how the rest of your country spells it.

When I saw the thread title, I didn't see anything wrong :P
