No, I don't mean those uses. I have friends that have said that they were proud of being white, and they were promptly accused of being racist. And that really hurts me.

I am proud that my ancestors were very probably emperors of the Tang Dynasty, and that my ancestors were among the first to discover the wonders of gunpowder, the compass, and paper. Being proud of one's descent does not always mean that you look down on other people's descent. It means that you are proud of who you are, regardless of what other people are.

You can be proud of what you are
Now that splits into two sub groupes.....
Proud of who you are:
-Proud of backround -proud of heritige -Proud of your ancestory
&
-proud of YOUR race, but demorleise other races -Proud that you are one color then the other due to deogritory veiws -Plain DISLIKE of other "colores" people and who they are.
Those two groupes make up, one.....Raceist, and the other Not!
You need to learn how do distuinguish between the two, so that you don't get mixed "feelings" about one or the other. Because the two may seem similler but infact they have little to none similerities between each other.

Why? because africans were kidnapped stolen and forced into slavery by white europeans and this was justified ON THE BASIS OF THE COLOUR OF THEIR SKIN. Black pride is something to look up to, it is people taking a stand against oppression, standing up to centuries of villification and racism. White pride however, is thoroughly different, because it has a completely different origin. There is no history of oppression based on the white skin. There is along religious or class lines, but historically europeans have played the part of racist oppressor, not the oppressed. And they continue to do so, look at the current demonisation of Muslims and Middle eastern people in order to justify the current war on terror and the wars in the middle east.
And in terms of that 99% is just words rubbish, tempo you pulled that figure from nowhere. Do you think Nazis came to power on 1% support? god no. the turn to fascism and white supremacy was a result of the ruling classes of Germany, italy, spain and others being in complete turmoil and seeking any alternative to workers and the mass of ordinary people actually taking a stand for themselves. Fascism has its' basis in the middle class, and in the economic turmoil of the '30s, they were able to draw in large numbers of the unemployed behind them by scapegoating religious, ethnic and racial minorities in order to gain support. Saying that white supremacists are entitled to free speech is completely bankrupt, and means that you are endorsing not just racist bigotry and scapegoating, but that you actually endorse all that Hitler and the Nazis stand for, all that the KKK and the lynch mobs stand for.
