Hi, I was wondering what everyone thinks about Xbox 360's gamerscore system, some seem to think it's pointless, but others think its a good way to have a bit of friendly competetion with your friends, but what do you, the people who play games on this very site think?
No, it something to brag about, and something to do. The other day my friend tried calling himself pro with 2500 gamerscore, my live account has over 10,000.
hah even a casual gamer like me has more gamer score then him
imthebeast, if you were insulting ME, i was just saying its something to do, i know people with WAAAAAAAAAAAY more expierience than my live account, so dont get all cocky. Its something fun to get, and its worth having on Xbox.
i think its rather dumb how some people get so obssesed by gamerscore, tbh i the reason i like gamerscore is because it gives me a reason for beating halo on legendary or cod on veteran, hidden achievements are literally just pointless though ( i dont really value my total gamerscore just the harder achievments iv got)
its not pointless cuz it shows that ur a good gamer
I'd say along the lines of 'you put too much time into getting achievements'. I have 13210 gamerscore because I play games for fun, and the games I play are ones that you get achievements gradually and I've played for a year and half now. I have a friend with exactly 50000 GS, I wouldn't be proud to have that.
It's not exactly an accurate ref;ection of your prowess as a gamer, when you consider that about 80% of achievements an be gained merely by putting the hours in, and not having much skill.
In extreme cases, people buy crappy games because they know they'll be able to get a lot of gamerscore from them. That's not exactly the mark of a master gamer is it?
Really, it's just another, clever way Microsoft has thought of to get their customers more obsessed with the length of their gaming penis, and buy more games to enlarge it.
I like it. I find that the Gamerscore is freat iinspiration for me to play more games and get more achievements, and so, hopefully get better at them. Although, technically, it could be considered another money-grabbing of microsoft because in order to have a high gamerscore, you need to have quite a few games. The more games you have, the higher your possible score could be. In that sense, gamerscore wouldn't really be a good way to compare skill. Someone who is uber good at gaming but only has a few games would probably not have as high a score as someone who isn't as good but has a lot of different games. Should it be trashed? Probably not. A lot of people use the Gamerscore as a way to compare their skills with other people. Not to mention that people with a high Gamerscore would probably not be too happy about losing it. But I think there should be a better way of comparing your skills to other peoples'. As I've said before, the score can vary greatly depending on how much games you have, not necessarily on your gaming abilities.
