An immensely vast space-faring religious hegemony, consisting of seven different species over the course of time. After a Jackal ship brought a human onto the mobile city, High Charity, the Prophets Truth, Mercy, and the newly initiated Regret, ordered the destruction of the species of which did not believe in their religion. So began a war that lasted for years on end. the war saw the beginning of the Spartan I, the end of Spartan I, and the Beginning/end of Spartan II. After the Flood wiped out the Brutes, the covenant dispersed, but not before reducing the humans to only one planet, Earth.
The Locust Horde.
Humanoid species, born with brutal tactics implanted in their DNA. Coming in many shapes and sizes, the Locust were a formidable threat to the COG when attempting to escape the Iambent Locust. Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad led their men into the Locust Hollow following a lightmass bomb explosion, in an attempt to stop the crippled locust once and for all. The locust fought back with an immense rift worm, and skorge, the leader of the Locust Kantus variation. Delta Squad killed Skorge, and flooded the Hollows, but not after having their population of earth dwindle to less than a continent.
The two factions never met each other in conflict, but if they did, who would win?
I want to hear your opinion, so i'll put down what each faction brings to the table in a certain category. after that, please state who you think would win, your choices for the match ups, and an explanation of your opinion. thanks!

Dude, Master Chief is a genetically augmented human, not even really classified AS homo sapien, but beyond that! And who is "they" and how did this "they" run the fight between the two?
Anywho, the riftworm's ROCK hard armor is tough, but plasma is superheated rock. SUPERHEATED ROCK. that gives it the ability to MELT rock, in essence, MELTING the riftworm. If worse came to worse and the Covenant couldn't win the ground war, they would glass the planet. If you watch the cutscene after the level "floodgate" in Halo 3, you'll see that even the crippled Elites could glass half a continent with their meager ships. and dont say shit like "the Locust are underground". I know they are!
Let me break it down how intelligent the Covenant are.
It was revealed in Halo Wars' Halo TimeLine that the Covenant had 500 teams of Grunts and Elites work on learning the human "Unclean" language. One year later, the first transmission was sent to Pillar of Autumn, in totally clear english, using proper grammar and all that jazz. They sent it to every nation in every language earth has ever used. In one fucking year.
If in one fucking year, the Covenant could learn EVERY human language, then who's to say they wouldnt send 500 teams to discover the locations of where the Hollows were? And what would stop them from glassing the entire surface after they found out? its just like a seal from there. the Locust are sealed in, no oxygen (or whatever they breathe) can get in, so they eventually die. The glass is unbreakable, and extremely thick. not even a brumak or a corpser could break it. by then i'm pretty sure a scarab would have taken care of our Rift Worm friend.
The main problem with your glass option is that melted rock is still melted rock. Just because you melt it doesn't mean it will turn to glass. If that was true then there would be glass all over Hawaii. So what if they learned the languages in one year. I know a five year old who speaks three languages.
I know a five year old who speaks three languages.
Good for the five-year old who learned THREE languages. These guys learned EVERY FREAKIN' LANGUAGE in ONE year. and if you watch the cutscene after the level "floodgate" in halo, you will actually hear the covenant commander and UNSC commander use the term "glassing a continent". I was discussing plasma when talking about melted rock.
The Covenant have space weapons that can glass entire planets . . . there wouldn't even be a battle. The Covenant would just send in a few spaceships and glass the entire world of Sera. Not a single Locust shot would be fired.
ALSO, the covenant have weapons that can destroy entire planets - they didn't use them on Earth only because of the presence of the Ark on Earth.
So, either bye-bye terrain, or bye-bye planet. Either way, the Locust wouldn't get to even fire one shot against the Covenant.
This is stupid. This isnt even a fair fight. How in the world can the Locust do anything. Sure they would win the first few battles against Covenant scouting parties across the planet, but when the Covenant realize the threat of the Locust they would get what they want from the planet then destroy it. Make a match that is sensible. What was the person making this thread thinking if he already knew the outcome. I love Gears and hate Halo but COME ON. Also, I must ask, is this post war Covenant(which would facilitate all Halo weapons considering the end game UNSC-Elite alliance) or pre war covenant(just Covenant weapons).

Covenant, but not because of the halo rings or whatever, it is because of their technology. If the covenant want to scorch a planet and essentially melt the whole thing. They wouldn't do this to earth though because of the ark, but it dose not mean they could use other weapons too. They have a varied set of aircraft, such as phantoms, and i wonder if that troop carrier from the original even matters. If the locust live very deep on the planet, way below the surface, it would likely take them some time to get to the surface if they have enough plants or whatever they have down there to make whatever they breath. In air support, the covenant also have more power if they stay on the surface but they would surely not take it underground. eh whatever i seem to have lost my train of thought.
this means that if the votes were put into percents of victory, and we simlulated war a couple 1000 times, the Locust would win only about 25 percent of the time, on a Ground war. Since Sera isnt Earth and therefore the Ark isnt on it, the Covenant would have no problem literally glassing the planet, causing no air to get to the underground caverns, giving the Locust nothing to respirate.
