i think its over-rated and you dont really get what your paying for , i mean xbox live is about the same price and i find that to be much better, to be honest its just not my type of game, i prefer other games made by blizzard like diablo 2 ( even though its old and has terrible graphics)
What I meant by dorky gameplay is that the things that the game has you do are the things that nerds with no life talk about as their only achievements and accomplishments in life.
Its a fantasy game, if those aspects appeal to nerds then so be it, doesn't mean only nerds talk about it.
i don't think WoW is overrated, i accually kinda liked it but i think why most people like it so much is because there are so many members and its easy to make friends...
I hate world of warcraft and I dont need a reason. I just hate it
ummm okay? that is by far the one of the stupidest things ive ever seen typed on armor games.... you hate it and never tried it? i bet one day u will end up trying wow and likeing it, and when people say it is like runescape they are wrong.... it is completely different than runescape. runescape is just pointless skills for no reason, such as woodcutting for firemaking. in WoW the skills actually have a point. mabey u should try getting level capped before u call it a bad game u kids!
I know Floyd, when he makes an opinion, he aint changing his mind. That might be unfair to you, but don't try to be a fortune teller or a gambler to make up for it.

How much money are you willing to lose?

If you have only played the starting areas it definatly would seem boring, pointless, over-rated, etc. But if you get up to lvl 40 or so, do some duegons, a little pvp and it really isn't that bad...
'Overrated' is a big word. A really big one. Games are most of all a personal flavour, and there's no real argument to bring in against that. The only *bad* findings I have in playing WoW are: -The graphics are just under average. But I knew this before I started playing, so it is NOT an argument, if you want top-of-the-line graphics, start another game. Seriously. -The community. There are some really nice people that play WoW, I know. But from what I've seen a large part of the community consists of immature players. Not all of them are jerks ofcourse. -The rush. Rare is the player in an MMO that doesn't like shiny and good gear. But again, a very large part in WoW is just rushing the game to get good gear, and are very frustrated if this does not work out. What's wrong with sitting back and enjoying the game? Why would you have to flame at me if I enjoy reading all my quests? Searching for clues and locations without add-ons or help from sites? This 'group' seems to overlap mostly with the previous one... -'experience'. Only accepting experienced players with certain achievements in your party spoils the game for those who haven't, obviously. This turns end-game into a vicious circle. Those who don't have experience can't help that because they are not tolerated in parties. If your party is so 'experienced', one person with lack of experience, but who's willing to listen won't fail you. Honestly.
Currently I'm playing another MMO, and I have played another MMO before, of which both I liked better than WoW. It's too bad GuildWars died, it's community wasn't 'outstanding' either, but it's graphics were, and for me it felt way way harder than WoW. I then switched to Lord of the Rings Online. It was a huge step back concerning graphics (coming from GW), but from early on I found a largely mature community. No lies. If you would just shout out and ask for help the chance is big someone might just pop in and help you out. And if you say 'Thank you', they actually answer with 'You're welcome', or 'np'. I didn't think this was possible in an MMO, and ofcourse there are some who you can label as 'jerks', but most of them get filtered out at the lower levels. For once I didn't feel like one of the few people who likes reading their quests, enjoying the game and graduately filling in the story. And it didn't matter if others didn't care for stories and all, they actually WAITED for me to finish before carrying on.
I won't dare to say 'overrated' on WoW, but IMHO it's not the best mmo out there, though it is the most widely known.
*PS: Sorry for any spelling mistakes. I'm not a native english speaker and I do my best.*
