I just got a new computer and it came with a 1 month (Or something) free trial of Norton Internet Security. Now I have had Norton products before and I hated it so much I just uninstalled it a few days after getting the software.(I didn't buy it, It came with my other computer) I did this mainly because Norton's software is annoying, intrusive, uncontrollable and just downright bad. I mean it continues installs stuff to my browser without my permission that I can't uninstall by any normal means and if I delete the Norton Toolbar and stuff from my program files (Only way I have found to remove) but Norton replaces it without my permission the next time I boot up the computer. The software is also very buggy and it lists scam and phishing and even the occasional malware distributer as safe websites. Thats not protecting my computer thats trying to kill it. My point is that I do not recommend Norton software to ANYONE after my experiences with it. Now the other point of this post was to ask you the community what antivirus software you would personally recommend or not recommend and to discuss it.
its a great software. it catches the viruses and brings up a pop up menu immediately with the virus type and what to do. even has internet protection. best of all it is free, when trial rns out, register for the free key, you can repeadingly get the key, you just got to go re register.
btw DO NOT OPEN ANYTHING ONLINE FROM Windows Security System, ITS A VIRUS/MALWARE AND EXTREMELY NASTY. shut down Ctrl, alt delete command and all my antivirus stuff
Get AVG Free. I have it on my computer and it runs just fine. I don't don't really know much about it 'cause my parents fool with it, but My computer runs just fine with it on it. So I'd reccommend it.
Honestly, AVG is decent, but it isn't that great, you wouldn't know how much crap goes unnoticed by it, honestly, I would recommend SuperAntiSpyware Free Edition, it found things on my computer that had gone unnoticed by AVG for months, and my computer worked much better after I started using it.
Anti spy-ware: -Super anti spy-ware free edition -Ad Aware
Ad-Aware I have heard is actually rogue (sort of) software and was part of the decommissioned edonkey client Just what I heard though Also I am fairly certain that Ad-Ware Alert (or something like that) is rogue software so be very cautious about that I have not heard of Super anti-spyware free edition
I personally don't use anything but firefox especially after the Vundo trojan that killed my last PC was let in by Internet Explorer (Freakin Microsoft products lol)
