I just got a new computer and it came with a 1 month (Or something) free trial of Norton Internet Security. Now I have had Norton products before and I hated it so much I just uninstalled it a few days after getting the software.(I didn't buy it, It came with my other computer) I did this mainly because Norton's software is annoying, intrusive, uncontrollable and just downright bad. I mean it continues installs stuff to my browser without my permission that I can't uninstall by any normal means and if I delete the Norton Toolbar and stuff from my program files (Only way I have found to remove) but Norton replaces it without my permission the next time I boot up the computer. The software is also very buggy and it lists scam and phishing and even the occasional malware distributer as safe websites. Thats not protecting my computer thats trying to kill it. My point is that I do not recommend Norton software to ANYONE after my experiences with it. Now the other point of this post was to ask you the community what antivirus software you would personally recommend or not recommend and to discuss it.
Vundo Trojan = Your computer is @#%$@& up no matter what you have. Vundo trojans slap Norton in the face all day and Norton is all like OMG I CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH IM GETTING F$#%&@ED UP RIGHT NOW Seriously all Anti-Virus Anti anything programs get slapped in the face all day by a Vundo and they cant remove it.
SO DONT EVER GET A VUNDO LIKE I DID WITH THE LAST COMPUTER
Ok guys I need some help here So my Norton subscription expired and I downloaded the Norton Removal Tool to get rid of it but for some reason the Norton removal tool will not run because it insists it is already running when it is not. Any Ideas? I swear Norton itself is a freakin virus
I'm not sure. I got this one off of a pop up ad while I was watching, um, cartoons, yeah, and it works great so far. It's got some great security features. Like, it sends you to this secure site on it's server where you can put in all your banking info for online banking so nobody can hack into it. It's great.
I personally use Norton and I don't think that you give it enough credit. I haven't gotten a serious virus in a while and I'm not bothered by the toolbars because I use google chrome.
I use McAfee and its worked out great for me. Main thing i like is that when im searching on google it tells me wich sites are safe before i click on them.
my computer had over 100 infected files and not just small files large files. so we just called Microsoft and they took control of our computer and it was fixed.
Okay, i see alot of AVG and stuff. I am not reading a full like 8 pages on Anti Virus software opinions. But I'll give you one.
McAffe.
Its like 50-100 dollars, I'm pretty sure you probaly already got your software but I have had it for years and it has never let me down, scans downloads as they start for any viruses and cancels them unless I approve of them after a short warning pop up specifying the alleged virus.
If your going to have a computer, take care of it the right way, use McAffe.
