this game will become too easy and there is nor further reason to play it

I think faith was meaning that without double jumps there wouldn't be as many random "fun" things that you wouldn't be normally able to do making the game easier by limiting what is possible to do(because isn't that the appeal of the game: trying to find quicker, cooler routes than others?) but I disagree with there no longer being reason to play because its still a great game with more things you can do

@KentyBK:
First off "Metagame" is an estimation. A guess how someone will act giving the way the average player is playing. Like which cheese or no cheese, Fast expand,... . Its only usefull if there are a lot of choices u can make. As EP is straight for fast running meta wont apply.
Also glitches added depth to games. For example: Stacking mutalisks in Brood War. Its a glitch where u have to group an Overlord with your Mutalisks, so you can stack them. This added new unknown options to use this unit. It even generated a new style of playing out a whole 30min game which has been. This added something new to the game and did good.
JUST IN MY OPINION flow-dj did just the same to EP. It added new moves and routes to a game for more depth. On the rest I agree with u.

@Matrix:

In my opinion the glitch known as flow double jump should stay in the game. It adds more fun and a skill factor u have to master. Players are forced to develop in order to master it. As EVERYBODY can do it, its no unfair advantage u gain over others. Flow-dj are essential.

For the reason you posted your opinion 23432525 times without adding more arguments. I will go ahead and do the same so people can see both sides clearly.

Flow-dj are essential.

They are not essential at all. The game would be way better without it. Some people don't like it at all. It's just a flaw people found in the game. No real reason to actually keep it if no one is going to have fun while playing. That is why there are games to have fun. Not to use the glitches to give you an upper hand and majorly just beat people. I would like to see people not use the glitch to see how good they really are. I bet the best players like Zero, silvan, and blue, wouldn't do that well without it. Everyone would be pretty much even. That's why it would be much better.
Now I must remind you again It's a glitch in the game.

My turn,
Disagree with you matrix,

IN MY OPINION Flow -dj are essential. It makes this game more fun for adding more possibilitys to move around, pass races. Everyone can do it so everybody has the same chances. Everybody is even at the moment. It just comes down who does the right moves at the right time. YAY thats a skill ^_^.
Its just an additional move, and has the same importance like double-jumps, taping flow,...
Many good and distinguished player have the same opinion. So "Thebluerabbit" (considered to be top5; look above). I had a discussion with Ghostofzero (considered to be THE best and most creative player out there in EP), who stated: without flow-dj's the game would be too easy and would just be boring.

Flow tap is an actual skill. DJ is a glitch.
It will not be boring if John takes it out. All he would have to add is a map creator so we will always have new maps to play.

Flow- dj are a skill. Its even harder to do than Tap flow all the time. So Flow-dj are even the harder skill with more importance. You will beat a tapping player with just flow-dj. Using both abilitys makes you even faster.
It makes the game more fun.
And yes agree with the point of having a map creator.

To most people that play the game though it's not fun. I don't know why you guys consider a glitch to be fun.
I know it makes you faster to use the double jump but it's still a glitch that needs to be fixed.

I think John is taking it out, but if he would add the map creator it would be way funner since there would be something new to do all the time.

Majority of people I know have more fun through flow-j's. Not the glitch itself adds more fun, but the new moves, new routes, faster races are adding more fun to the game. The glitch shouldn't be fixed as it added more depth by accident. Which is not bad at all.
John found the source of the glitch month ago. But he found out that fixing it would hollow out the game and just didnt do it.
Man that will boost my Armorpoints. THX matrix

lol faith. anyway as i said before yes its a glitch but a mistake isnt always bad. why fix something that people enjoy. i know you dont wnjoy it but you have eto understand that some people do. and even if ALL the people you met hate double jumping you stull cant say all people do. please state that everything you say is YOUR opinion. i completely agree with faith. sometimes mistakes are good and can give you many ideas to improve things. who knows what would happen if jhon would actually consider it as a part of that game lol XD

The double jump glitch isn't really that bad. It makes the gameplay a lot better if you want to have faster routes and times.

As EP is straight for fast running meta wont apply.

When I talk about "Meta" I mean how outside influences determine the choices you make in the game, as well as things that are currently popular by the most dedicated and skilled players.

Here's what I mean: There's people that feel safe to use routes that have a relatively little chance of you dieing while other people use routes that are more dangerous but are ultimately faster. This can also be defined as "Meta" because an outside influence (your personality) determined the choices you make in-game.

And on that second point: When the game first started not many people in the game used dj (obvious, since it was not well known at the time). Now that is has become more widespread there's no way to win without it. My point being that Metagame can also refer to things that are currently popular(actually Magic the Gathering and other such communities use the term this way).

But I could debate debate this for hours so I'll just leave it at that and try to stay on topic.

As EVERYBODY can do it

Yes they can....if they know it even EXISTS.

Let me state my stance on this topic more clearly:

I'm not in favor of completely getting rid of dj COMPLETELY.
I AM however in favor of removing the way it is handled right now in the game. I see two options to fix it: Either John acknowledges
the dj and keeps it in the game (maybe make it an actual dj like in other games if EP2 is ever made) or instead removes it and makes some well-designed stages. And by well-designed I mean nothing like Zipper <_<.

Faith, from what I can tell you want to keep dj because of the depth it adds right? Then how do you think about this: Double Jumping is removed and instead we get stages that are not just one straight walk to the finish but instead allow for more different routes to take and shortcuts. Essentially I'm suggesting more Marathon-like courses instead of....you know.....Zipper.

However I agree with you on the fact that dj has added a lot of depth to the game.

They are not essential at all. The game would be way better without it. Some people don't like it at all. It's just a flaw people found in the game. No real reason to actually keep it if no one is going to have fun while playing. That is why there are games to have fun.

Why can't a game be deep, yet fun for everyone? And no, if you jusr remove the dj and do nothing else, the game will just crash and burn.

Not to use the glitches to give you an upper hand and majorly just beat people. I would like to see people not use the glitch to see how good they really are. I bet the best players like Zero, silvan, and blue, wouldn't do that well without it. Everyone would be pretty much even. That's why it would be much better.

This implies that double jumping is a skilless technique when it isn't. To fully use the double jump you have to have a great understanding of the maps and the way to move your character to build up enough flow. So the "Top 5" would still be at the top even if you remove dj (not to mention Zero pretty much wins on non-dj courses too ).
By removing the double jump you essentially remove the players that keep coming back to the game

Flow tap is an actual skill.

It's not. <_<
It's just mashing the space bar to conserve flow. No skill or learning involved. Double Jumping is the one that's more skillful.

but if he would add the map creator it would be way funner

If it's just user created ones and no official new maps then I disagree. Loads of games these days have User-generated content and it doesn't improve replayability by a lot(Wii Music anyone? ). The reason being that for every good and well-designed map you get 200 crappy ones. So I'd rather have good maps that are made by John himself then a sea of unplayable User-maps.

I think I'll shed some light on the glitch vs. skill argument that Matrix and KentyBK have been going on about. Yes, Matrix is right when he says double-jumping is a glitch, but if Kenty reworded his argument from "it's a skill" to "it's a glitch that requires skill" he'd be right. The glitch, as it is part of the game, must be learnt like flow-tapping or any other skill involved. So, basically, it's a glitch that requires skill. If you haven't learnt it yet, you need to, just like any other skill.

Actually I already said it's a glitch two pages back
So yes "a glitch that requires skill" is exactly what I'm trying to say here. But I still don't see anything "skillful" about flow-tapping because it's just that: Tapping the flow button

I did it earlier. I was on tutorial or something, and well... I did it. I pressed Up and held it, and then pressed it again and jumped in mid air. I did it!

Removing double jump would be like removing power-ups in Mario or whatever game. There's less learning curve for new people yah, but there's nothing to grow into. Who'd play Mario if you were powerless all the time. No uncertainty factor. The games we play would be so close to ties and who trusts the timer that much haha. We'd all scream chained. I wonder if people don't like the double jump or if they'd like it if they knew how to do it.
