I think tetris is because it's so popular and almost everyone in the world knows how to play it. What's your view?
Mario definitely,everyone knows how to play mario too, and everyone knows bowser.
i think Tetris, Space invaders or Pong.

I would say most classical would be like Pacman, it's so classical that the AI was hard-coded wrong into all the games and after the 256 level it crashes and becomes impossible to play.
Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Wolfenstein 3D. Pretty much gave birth to FPSes.
Goldeneye for N64. I love it and one of the best First person shooters back then.
