Hey, I'll be starting to post my new art here. I'm a pixel artist, which means I draw with a 1x1 brush, one pixel at a time. Sorta like lo-fi graphics. Retroooo :3
Random landscape
Logo for friend's band [One On Us]
Character drop a la Miervelles
Silly character mockup a la SuperBrothers
Walk cycle [first attempt]
Treasure Chest Gold

More to come, I'll try my best to update this regularly (few times a week)
1. Nice drawing! Like the thunder-bolts and volcano. 2. Hmm, what exactly would you do to defend from those natural disasters? I will say, though, that is an interesting concept.
You won't be liking them when they're wrecking up your island. ;D

I haven't thought this out yet, or anything about the game, honestly. But I am thinking about something related to building and maintaining a barrier that domes(?) over the island. It's hard to explain, I'll draw it up soon. Like the dome in the Simpsons movie, if you've ever seen that.

Ah, so like a reinforced glass or energy dome. Sounds nice! Remember: Upgrades = more awesomeness.

I... I am in love with this idea. This made another idea pop into my head. There is no 'winner', because you will always end up losing. What I mean by that: It could be a survival game, progressing through night and day, both having different types of disasters. Day: There could be terrible storms and such. Night: Wolves come to eat you nomnom.
A wall around the buildings would prevent wolf damage, and lightning rods might help prevent lightning fires and damage. Just a thought. :P
This sounds great too, jeol. Thanks a bunch for the ideas! ^^
This might be more of a daytime thing, but an avalanche or landslide!
*adds to the list*
I'm emailing several different coders as we speak, and I'm sending sort of like a portfolio, so we'll see how that turns out.
Also, I meant by you never win, because it's a survival game, and you have to get the longest time, and then you can check the high scores and all that jazz.
Hmm, maybe not so much as a 'longest time' thing, but more of a 'highest score' thing
Well yeah, it wouldn't be based on minutes or something, it would be based off how many days and nights you've survived. Yep, there will be some type of buying for sure. I was thinking maybe there could be a little shop building in your town, and if it gets destroyed, all the items would fly everywhere and you'd have to rebuild it somehow, still thinking... Keep in mind, this won't be a character controlled environment, it's just using your mouse and clicking stuff.
you buy the supplies to build it, then after you click 'build,'
This sounds like a neat idea also, reminds me a bit of minecraft for some reason... Like there will be stuff you can buy for the island as well, such as wood to burn to create light during the night. But some things, like a dome over the island would be bought in whole. I'm not so sure how the player will get credits/money to buy stuff yet though. o:
Sounds nice. When I'm doing that, what color would it come out as? White? *adds to list*
lake for both relaxation and faucet purposes, etc.
I don't think the game's going to get into much detail about the town's daily life, but a lake would make a nice touch. *adds to list*
Then different sized towns and stuff would be different difficulties!
*adds to list* --- Also, I just want to say thanks again to both of you. You'll see your name in the credits (if this actually becomes a game) for sure. ^^

Personally, I was thinking along the lines of traditional acid. What about a light tinted green?
I just had an idea! How about meteors? An option for you to consider, but maybe they could cause fire damage, since they're on fire when they go throught the atmosphere? Also, perhaps larger asteroids for bigger damage. Just my thoughts.

Wait a second... This means I'm... Finally mentionable? *Tears up* Thank you! That would really be an honor.
I was thinking about this before! But then I thought, it would be quite difficult to ... defend against, y'know? Maybe with laser guns, but I don't want this to get all sci-fi. Also, I think we have a ton of things trying to destroy the player, let's start thinking about some defenses! O:
Thank you!
You're the one helping me! I should be thanking you! ^^

Right, modern era. Check.

Well, I just had a thought for the floods, at least. Perhaps an upgradeable sewer system? It would remove some of the water in the city during the floods, and send the removed water into an underground cistern beneath the city? You could be able to upgrade the size of the cistern for water capacity, and the water would drain out of it when it isn't flooding. When the cistern fills to the brim, it'd no longer be effective until it starts to drain again. A bit weird, but maybe possible? :/

I'm loving the upgrades coming into play. Gamers are into that kind of stuff, right? Also, off your idea, I sorta pictured large holes in the ground and having them lead down the main cistern(?). I'm going to draw what I'm thinking right now before I loose this thought.

Dude, take a look at Upgrade Complete and Upgrade Completer. Those games are 5% gameplay and 95% upgrades. One of the reasons they're so fun. I've always loved the upgrade systems in games.

Yeah, that was kinda like what I was thinking. I was picturing sewer grates among the buildings. Although, your idea sounds pretty good too!
