Hackers caused PSN to shutdown, but I'm really mad that it has taken Sony, a multi trillion dollar company, 3 (going on 4) DAYS to take care of the problem. That's a fail

Wouldn't be surprised if they're just mainly doing this to make PS3 owners turn against the hackers.

Sony is probably working on a new firewall or somehting to prevent this so it's taken a longer time, or this was just a really destructive hack. Yeah, it is getting a bit annoying,.
But atleast PSN is free *snicker*

Since you have to pay for Xbox Live, you get more security from things like this :P

Who's snickering now?

Yeah... The article was dated 4 years ago. And I haven't seen anything like this happen on the Xbox recently. So yeah.

Well yes, it was from 4 years ago... But still, you ever heard of something like that happening on PSN?

It still happened. So yeah. So far, it doesn't look like Xbox Live is more secure than PSN.

Besides, you claimed Xbox Live was safer, so you should have to prove it right, he shouldn't have to prove it wrong.

The Xbox live accounts (in the article) were stolen by a couple of petty thieves, where as PSN was shut down by probably the best hacker that ever lived. So Live has better security? I don't think so.

Not something like hacked accounts, but I've seen instances of hacked
games in the past on PSN.

In the course of 4 years, Microsoft has undoubtedly released software patches to fix it, so it won't happen again.

Yeah...it's down, it's annoying, but it isn't the end of the world. Let's not turn this into a "My system is better than your system" fest.

this is going off-topic to 'which is more secure, Xbox Live or PSN?' Honestly, it doesn't take the best hacker in the entire world to do something like this (not that a beginner could do it either)

And multi-trillion dollar company? Is that even POSSIBLE?

Anyway, I'm sad that PSN is down not because I can't play online, but because it has caused my 3-day weekend to be an endless streak of boredom interurpted occasionalyl by something fun. I don't always play PSN every spare moment i have (in fact I only played a few hours a day at maximum), but this and a broken computer, as well as bad weather, has really caused a lot of boredom...

Did anybody hear anything on how long it will be down, exactly? The last time hackers brought down PSN, it was only a few hours.

As far as I know it's undetermined, but I can't see it being much longer.

Not just any hackers... ANONYMOUS. Sony would be like us newbs trying to overthrow Facebook. They really just have to wait until Anonymous stops, or they make a better security system.

In the meantime, go outside. Or play an offline game.
