Hackers caused PSN to shutdown, but I'm really mad that it has taken Sony, a multi trillion dollar company, 3 (going on 4) DAYS to take care of the problem. That's a fail
The Xbox live accounts (in the article) were stolen by a couple of petty thieves, where as PSN was shut down by probably the best hacker that ever lived. So Live has better security? I don't think so.
What if a petty theft hacked PSN? You have no proof so that is a moot point.
Look at it this way: there is none a probably will never be a network invulnerable to hacking or abuse. I can sum this up though: Since PSN is a free service, it doesn't get updated and upgraded as often as LIVE because there is no profit being made from you the player. No profit from you means less money to prevent things like this from happening.
I'm not saying LIVE is perfect either. In fact, both are far from. A hacker with enough determination and resources can take down PSN and LIVE so this whole argument is kind of stupid.
The hacker could be a PS3 player who had the ultimate gamer rage from CoD or something and decides to take it out on all of you guys. Bottom Line, that sucks.
Well, as an update on the status, I've heard everywhere from tomorrow to the middle of next month. It will probably happen next week, all this information is coming from some friends who are wayy to involved in Playstation.
At least I can sleep at night knowing that 99.99% of the time I am getting free, reliable access to PSN. In the meantime, I play a single player game. No skin off my back.
wow i had just come to the ned of reading this thread and was about to go and slit my wrists because i had completely lost faith in humanity. people saying xbxo is safer is a complete joke, as has been said if someone(s) really was determined enough they cold probably take down live, and i highly doubt any of the complete moronic baboons saying that live is safer have any actual evidence or technical knowledge to back this up, if you cant prove something that isnt an opinion then dont say it!
yes the ps3 has been taken down this one time, but it could simply be that this person hasnt tried or has no intention of trying to hack live, and as for annoying spammers saying Xbox is better YAY for me! thois isnt the place and no one cares as the 'evidence' your presenting is completely unfounded.
oh and by the by thankyou very much mdv96 as you restored my faith in humanity and stopped me from picking up a gun and getting my fix of cod on the street with some live action...
