Hackers caused PSN to shutdown, but I'm really mad that it has taken Sony, a multi trillion dollar company, 3 (going on 4) DAYS to take care of the problem. That's a fail
What are you talking about!? How could you not care about your personal information being stolen? It makes no sense to me! Too much one-sidedness from noncomformist to not care. If you don't care, then why do you feel your negative (Xbox directed) comments need to be heard? >
well thats completely idiocy if ever i saw it microe since they both have way more points than that, and as said this isnt a my console is the best thread so sit down and shut up, because i doubt you hav eany evidence to say that live is safer
Live is a paid service and by the "what you pay is what you get" ideology I don't see that happening. Sony spammed drm and firmware updates while not taking proper precautions with their customers sensitive data. It's almost like all that credit card information was just stored in plain-text format on their servers. Sony handled the entire situation poorly and they are going to pay for it.

Okay first off everyone keeps talking about personal information. But first and foremost there isn't a lot of this so called "ersonal information" you have to give to sony. Sure they may know my name, and what city I live in, but its not the end of the world for me. They also have 75 million other peoples. Those who care so much about it, seriously need to calm down. Sony's already getting sued for this and thats about as much as anyone can do. I dont care, because not all of my life is situated inside of a console, there is such a thing as daylight, and sports, and girls =O...
PS.. Its not one-sided when I look at all the facts, and determine what system is better.. Its called looking into things first.

Actually they took pretty good precautions, but in all seriousness they would have no trouble getting through xbox lives security. Both PSN and Xbox will have the data encrypted, its just fact, no corporation is going to keep all there information in one area, plain text, allowing anyone who knows a thing or two about hacking get in. I do agree they handled the situation poorly, by not telling the customers who use the product about it until a week later. But other than that, there was nothing they could do.
On another note... i wonder if the same hackers are going to try xbox next haha

And your address, and your credit card number, and your e-mail, and your... ect. The list goes on and on. The fact is is that your not safe, if you have credit card information in there there is a chance that it is out on the internet.

Typical stereotype. me and a majority of my friends have PS3's or Xbox's, and we are all in some sort of sport and for the most part physically active.
if only fate had such agood sense of humour, it would certainly shut alot of igonrant fool up, and as has been said account information and money has been stolen from live before
awesome all personal info is stolen including credit cards. Thanks Sony you rock!
that has not been confirmed. all we know is that they took name, gender, date of birth, address, and psn sign in and password. at this date we the collective ps3 fans have no confirmation that the credit card numbers are stolen.
If they did then it wouldn't have happened. This isn't a small problem but a huge calamity for Sony. 1/5 of their customer base is planning on leaving.
but in all seriousness they would have no trouble getting through xbox lives security.
Sure a few accounts have been jacked but no credit card and personal information has been stolen. It's Sony's fault for releasing the developers software and not checking it thoroughly enough.

That's highly debated otherwise people wouldn't already be try to sell the information also if its the same encryption that they used on the ps3 then it's completely useless.
But other than that, there was nothing they could do.
Instead of removing features wasting time with useless firmware updates they could of made a better system and at least checked what they were releasing to the public.
On another note... i wonder if the same hackers are going to try xbox next haha
Unlikely since they aren't releasing developers software and even if they did I would assume they wouldn't make the same mistake.

Recently, at least of what I've heard, some people did try to do the same thing to Xbox servers but didn't do anything or got very little information. Although, that is highly unlikely.
dont believe any rumors you hear. its just some ps3/xbox fanboys. and to all xbox players that are saying 'we didnt get hacked cause we pay!' you are showing how you dont know anything about your system and hackers and you are asking to be hacked. please get out of this thread unless you are looking for information or posting information of the psn outage
Well apparently Patrick Seybold is estimating that the network will be back at may third and considering there could be unseen problems, im guessing may 3-5 it will be back and i can play some killzone =D
