No, that is ridiculous. You mess up in a plane, you go doun. You mess up in a car, 7 people go down. You mess up in a plane, you have 3,000 feet to catch yourself You mess up in a car well... Your engine fails in a plane, you glide to earth. Your engine fails on earth you crash. Anybody can get a licence, but a pilot's licence takes hours of flight time. In a car, there is no control tower...
Statistically, cars are more dangerous. We all know that.
Though my point is that on a case-by-case basis, plane crashes are much more dangerous than car accidents. Yes, every day we have someone dying on the road but I have to say plane crashes startle and attract attention more. They're scarier.
cars will always be more dangerous... lets get this straight which is more accessible? cars which requires the least amount of experience? 120 hours for a normal car then 3 years of practice until full license. a plane 30 hours until license to fly solo.. 300hrs until commericial license which are more common? cars there are more cars on the road then there are planes in the air... the only reason it is tragetic to hear a plane crash is usually because it doesn't occur often and when it does many ppl are injured.. whereas car incidients occur more frequently and vary in consequences... a small scratch to a head on collision with a tree. we only hear car crashes on the news when it is usually when a death occurs
I think that a car is more dangerous, because there are a lot of people who are drunk and who still drive, that isn't possible in a plane, a pilot would be fired immediately! and you have joyriders, i don't think you have that on a plane..
so i think a car is more dangerous! also because there are more cars on a road, so 2 cars who bang into each other is more likely than two planes.
Cars are infinitely more dangerous. They require the least amount of training to operate, the least amount of maintenance to be brought out on our streets, they operate in highly congested environments with thousands of opportunities for life threatening errors to occur in even a simple 15 minute commute.
On the other hand aircraft operate in largely unoccupied areas with little to no chance for collision, they are maintained and monitored to extreme safety standards, and their operators are rigorously trained and monitored.
The reason that there is so much controversy over aircraft malfunctions is two fold. Firstly, a malfunction leading to an accident is an extremely rare occurrence. Secondly, a serious accident typically involves the death or injury of hundreds of people, whereas your typical fatal car crash involves 1-4 injuries and/or fatalities.
statistically, you are way more likely to die on a train than on any other form of transportation... Cars are more dangerous because everyday you hear of a accident or even a death on the roadways. A plan crash is rare and few have occurred recently.
well, do planes have drunk drivers? if people have drove a plane drunk that is sad. but car crashes, i see sever a year just near my house, and i hear a few ambulances go by every day. although not all of them are for car accidents i am sure
Planes are safer because there are more cars driving than there are planes in the sky in the same routes. And also a pilot cant get drunk and fly a plane and you need more work to fly a plane. Except for engine failure or something and terrorists
Interesting compilation of information from Crash Stuff.com here. It's a breakdown of per mile vehicular accidents separating motor vehicle travel, commercial aviation, and general aviation (private, not for profit pilots/personal aircraft)
Choosing âmile to mileâ as the more appropriate comparison for differing modes of transportation (and overlooking that small planes often takeoff and land at the same airport, without ever really âgoing anywhereâ), letâs review the fatality rates:
driving: 1.32 fatal accidents and 1.47 fatalities per 100 million miles
airlines: .05 fatal accidents and 1.57 fatalities per 100 million miles
GA: 7.46 fatal accidents and 13.1 fatalities per 100 million miles
Obviously we see that even on a per mile basis commercial airlines are by far the safest way to travel, and flying with your buddy who just got his pilot's license probably isn't so smart
