i'm confused. i learned that pi never ends but then some people say that a Japanese team of researchers found the value of pi and that it has 1.3511 trillion digits. who is right??? http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Does_pi_ever_end
Well, it's right that they found the end of PI. And that if you would round PI it would become 3,14. But it takes a long time what that Japanese team did.
Um, I thought that pi being a 'real number', or whatever you call this in english, it has per definition no repeat or end, they are just constantly calculating more and more digits to have it more and more accurate.
It does some Japanese let a machine running for a month and something and they finally got the answer.
That doesn't mean that the number itself is finite, that only means they have to build a better machine who can get on with calculating, or who can get more exact/more decimals. Pi is an infinite number by definition.
