This is breaking news at CNN.com. Russia attacks Georgia (the country). The President of Georgia gives his thoughts and comments about this event in an interview with a CNN corespondent.
I suggest watching the video first and then read the story.
The whole conflict started with Russia attacking civilians. If indeed Russia makes this an official war against Georgia, then for sure it would prove to be Georgia's demise.
How incredibly racist. Theres mass murderers that aren't called racist, and here you come calling people you don't even know evil. I got news for you, my family lived in Russia for thousands of years, and I am not evil.
I don't think he contradicts himself at all, he makes a good point... I don't think Georgia can win this war, they will have to give to Russia eventually. I hope the U.S. doesn't get involved, no one wants a World War 3.
@florglee2 - Russia is the largest in terms of area, but in terms of population it has less than half of the United States population, or one-tenth of China's population.
@topic - My initial reaction is to root for the small, pro-America, Georgia that wants to join NATO over big, anti-America Russia. However, if we support them we'll end up with an angered Russia who further resents Western interests and would be unwilling to help act as a diplomatic agent in conflicts to their south. We need Russia to control its own Caucasus Islam rebel movement and watch out for other -stan nations nearby( not that we should be fighting there, but should instead be trying to help them mediate peace).
Someone noted earlier that in the Olympic opening ceremony they saw Bush talking to the Georgian president, Mikheil Saakashvili, and I saw him talking to Vladimir Putin; I just hope that imbecile (Bush) doesn't start World War III.
That was a joke Danstanta.Bush isn't going to actually invade any more countries, especially since he can't since only congress can declare war,and he isn't going to risk something like that, after so many people are against the current war we are in.Actually an interesting fact though is that the Olympic Team for the Russians don't know about the situation between Georgia, and Russia right now.
