This is breaking news at CNN.com. Russia attacks Georgia (the country). The President of Georgia gives his thoughts and comments about this event in an interview with a CNN corespondent.
I suggest watching the video first and then read the story.
The whole conflict started with Russia attacking civilians. If indeed Russia makes this an official war against Georgia, then for sure it would prove to be Georgia's demise.
I don't think we will go to war with Russia. That's the last thing we need during a recession.Once again we are only going to get involved as peacemakers to prevent further blood shed
You don't listen do you Mac_MK.No president of the United States would allow a senseless war to go on,and when I say senseless, I mean a war that can be prevented.
No one stopped Bush from invading Iraq, what sort of advice could he provide here?
The way I see it, with any 'fight' that involves Russia, I get worried. The Doomsday Clock is already at 5 minutes to midnight... who knows where it'll be next year... OOOOOH.
Seriously though, this clash between the two countries do worry me. If anything, I do hope that countries (not the UN of course, we don't need a bunch of do-nothing slack jaws involved) get together and create some sort of interim period for peace to alleviate the fighting.
@InTheZone,the congress implemented the war not the president. He just chooses not to end it.Also the cold war is over so I don't know where the DoomsDay Clock got Revived from.
Wow so they still have the clock going huh.Well George Bush refuses to end the war because he doesn't want to lose a war. Also I'm not very sure what it means to be 3 minutes to midnight, since I don't know how close that is.I know that midnight represents dooms day though.
Oops. I was never good with my politics :P. The point is, seeing as the President himself is not willing to end the war in Iraq, what's to say he'll intervene in Russia/Georgia's struggle.
I understand the Cold War (maybe) over, but the Doomsday Clock still ticks away my friend. It's updated yearly by the same folks who created it. Right now, it's at 5 minutes to midnight, which is pretty cool.
Random Fact About The DDC: The closest it ever got was 3 minutes to midnight... or something like that.
