I'm surpriesed no one has posted a topic about thisbut anyway, back on topic...
What are your thought's on obescety (please, someone correct my spelling)? In all honesty I don't see how to get fat. I've actually tried to get fatter, but I guess all the running I do makes me naturally skinny. Do you think too many people in the US are becoming fat? In my opinion, I'd say yes, but feel free to share your thoughts.
The solution to obesity is simple. Make the entrances to Maccy Ds much thinner. This way certain arger gentlemen wont be able to get back in and will therefore lose weight.
Ok first of LMAO.
Anyways i know that it is sometimes genetic and just a medical problem, but usually people are to lazy and not wanting to leave the telly except to make a fridge run.
it says "results not Typical" That just makes me laugh.
You can find that on any commercial. Just look...

Yeah, but I think it is okay every once in awhile to be a TV zombie, as long as you don't eat yourself to death while you do it. That seems healthier than overeating.

Yea, I watch tv. But I also try to eat healthy, and go to the gym. It is all about the lifestyle. If all you do is sit around all day eating chips, you will get fat. If you go to the gym, it will help counteract.
In my town, the main mode of transportation is biking, and overall it is a pretty healthy community. Not many obese people at all. Personally, when I bike to school, it is 2 miles there, and 2 miles back. Sometimes I do it 3 times in a day. So I get up to 12 miles. You can see why the community is healthy =) we bike everywhere!
The way I'd break down the problem is to focus on population perspectives as opposed to any approach that would single out people who are overweight.
I think as a general rule people as a whole are not so good with putting the long term over the short term. This is to do with reward pathways.
Therefore if there is an abundance and no real regulations, people will tend to glut.
Therefore the real problem, if obesity is to be considered a problem (which under most measures it now is), is that certain countries simply have too much.
But the problem is obviously more complicated than taking away from one to give to another. To cut things short, I ultimately blame the American capitalist mindset.
live in El Paso. Do you want to ride your bike everywhere in the desert? Neither do I. That, and it's seven miles from my house to my first class. No thanks.
lazy, that's why people are fat. Their freaking lazy.
I did a ton of research on this issue for a paper I wrote in a research class.
Not only is the population getting more overweight, but it's mainly occurring in the low salary end. Nowadays fast food, and unhealthy generic brand foods are much cheaper than healthy alternatives. And for the poor people who work a few jobs with little down time fast food is easier, quicker, and cheaper to buy for your family versus spending more money and standing in the kitchen preparing a meal after a long day of working.
Also the media campaigns for these fast foods have began to change drastically. Just a year or two ago, fast food brands were promoting healthy foods in response the public complaining about how unhealthy the food is. Now they have turned around and are using advertisements that make it seem fine to eat massive bacon filled burgers on a regular schedule. Commercials such as Carl's Jr advertise massive burgers, and also say "without us some guys would starve" like they are supposed to eat burgers and fries regularly.
Fast Food is bad for you, having little time for proper dinner is bad for you, being poor and having to buy cheap food is bad for you, and it's all too bad. Should all of this be cleaned up? Yes, of course. However, ultimatly, everyone has an hour of freetime a day to excersie and everyone can choose to not buy fast food, to eat more vegetables and less processed food. Is it easy? No, but still the blame finally rests upon your own head.
For some people though it's not just their own choice. When you are struggling to pay rent, it's difficult not to eat fast food, which significantly affects your health. Most people do have a choice and should get up off their lazy butts. But others are stuck that way because this is a capitalist economic system where it turns out that processed chemicals, artificial flavorings, and trans fats are much cheaper to produce than wholesome health all natural foods.
it seems to me, when I buy groceries, which I love to do, that canned vegetables are the cheapest thing you can buy. Fresh vegetables are more expensive, but still pretty cheep compared to buying a box of Hot Pockets
Ya thats true. Also have you noticed that out of the frozen foods, the cheapest ones are the generic brands and the ones that are supposedly healthier are a lot more expensive? The cheap generic brands are a lot worse for you. Nest time you are at the store check out the nutrition facts. And all of the other types of foods that claim they are healthier with no artificial flavorings or fats are more expensive than the others also.
Many people claim that tey eat the bad food because it is the cheapest and the only food they afford. I do not see this as a valid excuse as in my house my parents earnt 10k a year and bought cheap food, and i didnt end up being a fat lump. The solution to obesity is simple, be it genetic or metabolism or glandular or whatever. Eat less excercise more.
