look at religion over the years starting way back at medieval times the crusades or holy war caused many deaths all in the name of Christianity and that they killed people of other religion (i forgot the religion but i believe it was Muslim)in the name of there god and jumping back to modern times you can even base 9/11 on a religion if you can justify so is it not an honor to die suicide bombing or plane jacking if you can justify that you did it in the name of the Muslim god

so basically im looking for the opinion's of people on armor games do you think religion's worth it? please at least attempt to back up your answer

Well look at it this way, the christian god will let you go on and live in a wonderful afterlife as long as you take up a sword and go kill some heathens occupying the holy lands, even if you're a kid (Look up the children's crusades, most of them ended up as slaves). There are tons of religions, including Christianity that have at one point or another had one branch or another that advocated violence as a way of doing God's will. It's not fair to group all Muslim's together for the acts of a few, just like it's not fair to group all Christians together and blame them for things like the Crusades and other near cult like practices some sects have partaken in.

All of these religious wars are from misunderstandings of the written word...
Most are just for personal or political gain...
This could be compared to the Manson murders. He led a "cult" that he wooed into killing themselves...

I don't think religion is worth all the trouble it causes. I think Jesus Christ was a great example of why religion doesn't work.

If you examine the life of Jesus, He HATED religious people with passion and religious people are the ones who do crazy things.

...But it looks so yummy!

But ya, that was pretty much my point. You can't judge any group as a whole by the extremist because it's really unfair to call all Muslims terrorists unless you're willing to do the same things to everyone, which is my primary reason for opposing teaching things like creationism in schools. If you're going to do it in one case, then you have to do it in all cases and things just get too crazy.

Well, if you know the context of this hate, you'd know that the Pharisees and the Sadducees were very corrupt and used their "holier than thou" status to bilk the system. They weren't really "religious", they were just following a strict code of rules with no real meaning...

I know the context of the hate. The Pharisees and Sadducees were corrupt and extremely religious, so Jesus hated them and their _False_ righteous.

Jesus looked @ their heart and knew that they followed rules not to please God, but to look self-righteous and gain favor among man.

I think the Pharisees are the perfect example of religion. It's a set of standards and rules that you try and follow that either makes you 'Holier than thou' or 'Not good enough'.

Well, when you know the truth about something, like religion, you want other people to know about it. I would LOVE for people to have the same peace about life that I have, but one only hear it if their ready. That's why I've stopped trying to convert or even discuss my faith with anyone unless they ask... If people would ask before they try to preach, a lot of problems would stop...

I think it's good to have something to believe in. It gives hope to you that there is meaning to life. It helps people keep going and i don't think it would cause trouble unless your ignorant and like to start fights wherever you go (which is most of the world) and I think if you don't believe in anything don't fight about religion on account it doesn't concern you.

We already have a natural tendency to live. This "meaning to life" offers no motivations to live...just to live "nicely"
