Well, this was borne out of two things; The recent events of last night, and BigPo saying he would ban people like nnine almost as soon as they started. So, that got me thinking, and I came up with this:

Hunter/Killer Mods.

Essentially, it allows normal people 'half' mod powers, or the mods we already have another option.

What hapens is this:

Lets say some guy (or girl) is spamming, flamming, trolling, you take your pick. He is either reported to the Hunter/Killer Mod, or the H/K Mod finds him.

The Mod will warn that player, and give him the consequences of what will happen if he continues.

If the 'Target' continues with his actions, the H/K Mod can do something that is a cross between a 'Temp Ban' and a 'Mute'. The 'Target' is sent into a 'rison' or a holding place where he cant do anything. The Mods or Admins can then review his (or her)'s file, and then deem if its worthy enough of a ban, or an IP Ban.

This allows the 'Target' to be dealt with in a more efficient way, and in a safer way, as the mods are contemplatening the 'Targets' Future in a Safe Enviroment, instead of while the He or She is on a Spamming Rampage.

Ofcourse, there are some limitations.

1) Power. Should the H/K Mods have the power to have just a normal 'Ban' Power? I think NO. This might lead to a 'Newb' Spammer getting Banned.

2) Over-Banning. What if a H/K Mod starts T/Banning people who he/she just doesnt get along with? He could get into a debate, and BAM! Half the opposition is gone. This is also one of the benefits of a 'Prison' for those caught by H/K Mods.
---
H/K Mods: Hunter/Killer Mods

T/Ban: Temporary/Ban

Target: Those under suspect by the H/K Mods
---
Kinda sounds like a secret police... Oh, and instead of having 'Ban-Hammers', should the H/K Mods have 'Ban-Mallets'? :P

Sounds good, however.... I'm pretty sure that AG said that they will make you a full mod, or not make you a mod at all.

Well, think of it this way. Its like the Spec Ops of Mods, but with less power because they have a more important job. Theres no poin in having all the 'apps' of a mod if your not really gonna use them. But thats for the Admins or whoever to decide. Its just an idea.

I see where you're coming from. I'm guessing not many mods are looking for merits, etc. (or even coming online frequently). I was really into this idea in a discussion before. But that's what Carlie has said before. I would be fine with this idea though.

There is no need for a separate class of mod. If AG needs more mods they will take it upon themselves to find people that can handle full moderator powers. If they feel that they are okay with their current help then no new class will be created.

Let's say that AG staff went insane and actually did create a person with half mod powers they still wouldn't call it Hunter/Killer. That's ridiculous. A mods purpose is not to be intimidating. Quite the opposite actually.

I'm not saying thats what it will be called, if the 'class' was made. I simply named it that because, simply speaking, thats what it should do.

It 'hunts' down spammers/trolls/etc, and 'kills' them by T/Banning them. Thats there only purpose.

Sounds...violent

I think you're missing the point of moderators. They're jobs aren't only to enforce the rules you know. Besides, the mods seem to be doing a satisfactory job.

This reminds me of the "contest mods" idea...which failed.

Well, what should they be called? The Happy Sunshiney-Flower Gang? The whole point is to lighten the burden of the mods by getting rid of the heavy spammers/trolls/etc.

I was not aware of that.

There are some talk about getting some new mods, because even the current mods thinks they need some. But the staff is busy so it will have to wait.

As for the idea, I have seen people responding to Nnine (fx), either saying he should stop of simply replying to his threads, and I cannot say this enough: Do NOT reply to that kind of 'users'. At all.
During a spam/flame/troll attack, go SOMEWHERE ELSE for a while. That way the mods will be able to track down all the stupid comments without having to look through other threads as well, and you will not end up angry and/or banned because of some stupid temper problem.

No offense to you Maverick, but it really has no chance at happening. I don't feel I need to go too in depth as to why it wont, but I don't even think it's possible for a user only have access the ability of banning people. This forum was made from a basic model, and while there are adjustments that can be made, I doubt a "H/K Mod" can be scripted into the system, but even if it was possible, it wouldn't happen due to the normal mods being able to ban people.

Well, its just an idea. And since I didnt know about the 'contest mods', I had no idea that this is the same idea, in a sense.

Dang, I thought I was on to something...

This sounds like something out of a video game or something.

And a complete rip off of the Terminator.

I've never seen the Terminator Movies. And I gave it the Name Hunter/Killer simply because thats what it does. And if its intimadating, good. Maby people will be less inclined to break the rules.

I don't think it would work.

All those hunter/killer wannabes will just have to go to bed every night dreaming of being a mod as I do and everyonelse SHOULD xD
