Well, this was borne out of two things; The recent events of last night, and BigPo saying he would ban people like nnine almost as soon as they started. So, that got me thinking, and I came up with this:
Hunter/Killer Mods.
Essentially, it allows normal people 'half' mod powers, or the mods we already have another option.
What hapens is this:
Lets say some guy (or girl) is spamming, flamming, trolling, you take your pick. He is either reported to the Hunter/Killer Mod, or the H/K Mod finds him.
The Mod will warn that player, and give him the consequences of what will happen if he continues.
If the 'Target' continues with his actions, the H/K Mod can do something that is a cross between a 'Temp Ban' and a 'Mute'. The 'Target' is sent into a 'rison' or a holding place where he cant do anything. The Mods or Admins can then review his (or her)'s file, and then deem if its worthy enough of a ban, or an IP Ban.
This allows the 'Target' to be dealt with in a more efficient way, and in a safer way, as the mods are contemplatening the 'Targets' Future in a Safe Enviroment, instead of while the He or She is on a Spamming Rampage.
Ofcourse, there are some limitations.
1) Power. Should the H/K Mods have the power to have just a normal 'Ban' Power? I think NO. This might lead to a 'Newb' Spammer getting Banned.
2) Over-Banning. What if a H/K Mod starts T/Banning people who he/she just doesnt get along with? He could get into a debate, and BAM! Half the opposition is gone. This is also one of the benefits of a 'Prison' for those caught by H/K Mods. --- H/K Mods: Hunter/Killer Mods

Target: Those under suspect by the H/K Mods --- Kinda sounds like a secret police... Oh, and instead of having 'Ban-Hammers', should the H/K Mods have 'Ban-Mallets'? :P
I just read the main post and nothing else, so excuse my redundancy if there.
If the mods trust someone enough to make them a h/k mod, then they will not bother with that and just make them a mod. Why give someone with the ability to be a mod only half the powers he needs to do a good job.
Well, the point of a Hunter/Killer Mod not having the 'full' powers of a Mod in the sense that they cant change Thread Names, Edit Post or whatever.
They can Delete Post, Delete Threads, and comments that are from a spammer/troll/etc, and can spend more time doing so because they arnt hounded by others to do these things. To really go for the effect, they could be told privatly and dont have any 'noticable' features like the colored text or a lable.
Anywho, the whole point of having 'less' features is so they can help the mods by spending more time 'Hunting' down Spammers/Trolls/Flammers, Instead of Changing things.
Why give someone worthy of being a mod less features though. That makes no sense. If someone is worthy enough to have some powers, he has them all. Because having a half mod is useless, cause when there is actually a major problem they can't do anything.
But that wouldnt be a H/K Mods Job. Half the reason for this would be that the H/K Mods are taking care of Spammers, etc, so that the other mods can deal with other things, trivial and non.
Maby the H/K Mods should have full powers, but the role I envisioned them is as a first response team. They get rid of the Spammer/Troll/Flamer, and send it to 'rison' in a lockdown, so it can be reviewed by Admins to see if they should be banned. This way, The Spammer/Troll/Flamer isnt rampaging around AG, unleashing havoc.
I was thinking of just an assistant mod that had locking/deleting posts/deleting comments abilities, instead of being able to ban or silence, because that seems a tad bit too much power.
I think it's quite good idea having anti-spam mods, but as many others have already said Armor games prefer having users with full mod powers than mini-mods.
That would be a good idea, but there would need to be only a few of these. If we had too many, the mods might have more work on their hands if they decide to get immature. Maybe a few trustworthy people would become private H/K mods. I don't know if it should be me, though. I was just saying it would be cool if I could ban nnine. But there are probably at least a few more trustworthy people than me.
But if they weren't private then they would be just like mods, only with less power. This way, rather than check for reports, they would be the people finding the spammers and torlls. Then nobody has to know, and the mods won't have as much work on their hands.

Amen! Thats what I've been trying to say the whole time. Its why I made the 'secret police' comment in the OP.
1) Deleting is a permanent function. Which means those people would be able to delete evidence of any stupidity/"crime". 2) The reason why this is coming up is because of the lack of active mods. Making more mods in different time zones would ease it up. 3) Being a mod, or even half a mod is a big responsibility and quite some work, especially if what they do is hunt down spam (take a look in any game wall...) and it really does take the fun away from being here, especially because most users cannot behave on the internet. This also mean that the few that is honest enough to get this job might end up frustrated and tired, just like the current mods do.

Which is why we need H/K Mods, to lighted the burden of the current Mods and/or Admins we have right now.

The H/K Mods would be 'unmarked' (as in not having colored text or a big 'Moderator' on there Post. They would remain incognito, and would only deal with the most severe offenders.
