i got to play WoW for free, for like EVER... my sister downloaded it onto my laptop and i dont know how.... weird but i've never played runescape so world of warcraft
Most of the publicity is WoW nerds raging on You-Tube, that's stereotypical.
It actually helps some people in the English language, it's actually much easier to learn a language through games than much else, as stupid as it sounds. My mate knows somewhat fluent swedish because he plays with quite a few. And nej, I don't know that much :P
More on topic, I suggest you get an experiance of it yourself with a trial, before going any further. Problem with WoW (only one): Bad people. Those of you who play, analyse how
Here's my basic summary WoW Pluses WoW has much better graphics. WoW has a much more in depth combat system. WoW has a pretty in depth story to it (which it's your call if that's relevant) that can add to your interest of finding out what happens next. WoW has a massive amount of players and options as to how you want to play; for example,
PvP-WoW has many battlegrounds of various sizes and with various objectives, which is a massive plus. Arena battles are for serious competitors, and some people love this and can even manage to win some prize money out of it.
PvE-WoW has a lot more content than Runescape does. The endgame stuff in WoW is really entertaining and will draw you in for hours playing with a large number of people. Groupmaking is very easy to figure out, and some of the challeges in the highlevel instances/raids will keep you entertained.
The World in WoW is massive, with an elaborate system. Now questing is much easier with a built in quest helper.
Downsides Obviously, having to pay for WoW is a downside :-/. WoW's economy is not nearly as elaborate as Runescape's. Almost everything in WoW will revolve around fighting. Having a massive stockpile of gold won't do you much good really.
PvP PvP is pretty massive at times, so if you don't have a good internet connection, you will not be able to expierence a lot of it. And also, people take it far too seriously at times...
PvE Almost all of WoW's endgame requires other people. So that can be a hassle if you were wanting to play alone. Also, the endgame will require a decent internet as well. Last complaint is that People can be snobs, and with that, there will be a slight learning curve to start. When you don't know what's going on, sometimes people will be jerks rather than attempt to help and/or explain to you what is going on. Therefore your first group run or two might be a little rough...
Runescape Pluses First and most obvious Runescape is free. Runescape's Economy is massive, and there is always something to buy. This leads you to always have something to do with RS gold and having it can matter in that game. Runescape's Combat system is casual and easy to get the hang of. Teleporting is a big plus that is not in WoW (for the most part), which can massivly cut down on travel times. Runescape has nothing that really ever REQUIRES other people, and you can pretty much do everything in that game alone if you would so choose. You can be free to level up whatever to 99 without a single hand from anyone else. Also, Castle Wars and Pest control and other multiplayer elements are in the game somewhat if you like that from time to time.
Drawbacks Runescape might be free...But all of the new content is never for the F2P people, so you will basically have to become a member to contiue on at some point. However, it being free also allows for no real concequence when people get banned, i.e. banned guy can go make a new account instantly. There is really no endgame for Runescape, it's basically all about grinding skills forever and ever. Runescape's story is confusing...and also kinda incomplete... Combat is very simplistic Mage>Fighter>Ranger>Mage...Yeah you can say you can change gear in the fight or w/e, but still, combat is pretty dull and repetative.
I've drifted from one to the other...to summarize WoW is for when you wanna play a lot and enjoy a diverse combat based game, when you wanna play with people, want big battles, if you want more graphics, or if you like more diversity in general. Runescape if for when you want to casually play, if you're looking for something with a big economy, want to play alone, or if you don't want to have to pay a ton of attention while playing. And it's free.
You can be free to level up whatever to 99 without a single hand from anyone else.
Same with WoW :P
The questing experiance (especially in Cataclysm) is much better without a doubt (different kinds of quests and fluid actions). You can easily get from 1-80 (85 in the next expansion ) from mere questing
RS i played. got high up, than facepalmed. then i went to play some random flashes, and had a better time

I totally agree with you, flash games sometimes introduce much more fun than doing the same thing over and over... and over.. and over again. No matter what the game, Warhammer online, World of WarCraft, MW2, RuneScape, CoD4, any, you need some variety
