[Thanks for the ideas. I'm going to add a certain amount of randomness, because randomness is fun, but it will probably be influence by more than offense. I want to include the attacker's Level, Offense, and Luck (heh, LOL) and the defender's Defense and Luck. Luck would be players only, of course. I'm working on an Excel formula. ]

You run, and as you do, shadows lunge at you. The only thing that seems to be repelling them is your intensely luminous shield.
Minutes later, you think you have escaped most of the onslaught. The shadow wall roils in the distance, and above you too, almost mockingly.
Just as you start moving again, your vision becomes blurry. You can't think straight, and fall to the ground. Darkness encloses as your shield's light dies with your consciousness.
You awaken in a cell. It is made of cold, hard, grayish stone. You sit in the middle. Upon looking around, you quickly determine you're in a prison. Two sides of your cell are bars, as it would appear you are at the intersection of two paths in the prison.
